Just got a call for my class and qualification. I originally interviewed early July. No clue if that timeline has anything to do with anything so take it with a grain of salt.
Anyone that has actually taken the new CCW course, not a renewal, is it really 8 to 5?
Since the initial application, I've changed my mind on what handguns to put on my permit, can I just change it or do I have to stick with what I originally applied with?Comment

Are they doing the training at their facilities in Devore? When I did mine five years ago we were done around 1530hrs.Just got a call for my class and qualification. I originally interviewed early July. No clue if that timeline has anything to do with anything so take it with a grain of salt.

You can change your mind on what you want on your permit up to the day of your training.
BTW, what day is your training?

FYI, Beginning November 1, SBCCW is moving. I had to reschedule my interview for November so this is good to know. I hope this is helpful for others.

for those who has interviews before Nov 1st 2021. SBSD already updated their online instruction to show interview location at their Institution Rd facility. Please do not follow that instruction until Nov 1st. Before Nov 1st, all the interviews are still held at 3rd st facility.Comment

Just had my interview yesterday.
A little background about me that adds context to my situation, I am 22 years old still living with my parents. The documents I had to get were a little different and hopefully this sheds some light for anyone that has a similar situation as me.
Initial interview time was set for 10/20/21 @3:00PM but I received a call in the morning asking if I could come in before 11:00AM. New interview time was 10:00AM. I arrived at around 9:30AM and there were maybe two or three people ahead of me that also had their interviews changed to an earlier time. I was checked in and the interviews were not conducted until around 10:30AM. I was actually a little surprised that many of the applicants that were there were wearing very casual clothes. One of the gentlemen there just for an example was wearing a Harley Davidson t-shirt and Jordan's lol. Once my turn was up, I presented all my documents and the money orders and was told that I was missing the copy of the property tax bill/grant deed. As stated above, I am 22 years old and still live with my parents. I obviously do not have a grant deed or property tax bill or anything of that sort in my name. I contacted Employee Resources prior to my interview and Sarah had told me that in place of that, I would need to provide a notarized letter stating residency (affidavit) in replace of that document. If you are in a similar situation, MAKE SURE TO BRING A COPY OF THE GRANT DEED OR PROPERTY TAX BILL IN ADDITION TO THE AFFIDAVIT. Luckily, the gentleman interviewing me stated that I could still be processed that day and would not need to reschedule. He just told me that I would need to bring the copy of that document back in a timely manner (which I did the same day). Interview process was really short and consisted of a few of the questions from the questionnaire. He mainly focused on the few questions that I answered yes to such as the consumption of alcoholic beverages and usage of marijuana (for the marijuana question, I informed him it was something I did when I was immature and juvenile but it's not something I do anymore). After the short interview, I verified my personal info and was told to wait in the waiting room for fingerprints. After fingerprinting, he stated that it would take 6-9 months to get a response back and I was on my way.
For anyone curious about my good cause, I initially brought up the fact that California is an everchanging state and I mentioned Prop 47. He cut me off and said "I nor the DOJ wants to hear that story. What is the main reason you would like to be issued a CCW?" I then stated that I want to be able to protect myself, my family, as well as others from any harm or threat that presents itself. He then said "Good, the DOJ is looking for very specific vocabulary from those they issue the CCW to." He actually guided me into the response that they were looking for so I take that as a good sign. He looked at my application and commended me for how detailed and lengthy my good cause response was.
Now is just the long waiting process.
Questions though:
I was told from one of the applicants that I would be able to add any additional firearms if I so choose to from now until my range day, is this true? They also said that if I did want to add a firearm after my range day, I would be unable to do so until my renewal in two years. Any clarification would be appreciated.
I've been browsing the forum and it looks like the average response time after the initial interview is about three months. How long did you guys wait for a response after the interview?
Sorry this was a long read but if anyone has any questions for me, I'd be more than happy to answer them. I'll keep everyone posted with the status of my process. Thanks guys! Wish me luck on the rest of my journey.

You were given the correct information. Between now and the time you're scheduled for your class you should be out looking for firearms that you'd like to carry. They do not have to be the one/s you listed on your application. They do not need to be on roster guns.
When I applied I listed my P220 because it's what I was cleaning at the time. When I qualified I had 3 different off roster guns. I had those 3 for my first 4 years. Now I have 2 off roster and 1 on roster guns listed on my permit.
Happy hunting.
