Passing score is 8 out of 10 with no safety violations.

I think I had one of those instructors at my renewal.
I went for the evening session, so it was dark, target dim, my glasses were fairly new and I was having trouble focusing (literally could see either the sights or the target, but not both), AND I was feeling extremely ill with a fever and cramps.
I know I "pulled" my shots, but he signed off... as I packed up, I noticed a nice little group of 10 new holes about 5" across just above the shoulder of the outline

With the number of people there, it would have been a lot longer day if they changed targets for every shooter! I think they had 13 targets set up. 20 shots from the first two guns (a CZ 75B and Springfield Subcompact 9mm) were in a hole the diameter of a coffee cup - the LCP not so much.

          Yup.
AVGC, we all had our own targets.
But they went reverse order... where it sounds like Devore is doing 1 gun, 2, guns, 3 guns... At AVGC, those shooting 3 were on the line the full afternoon, those shooting 2 and one were there for the last course(s) of fire.
It was a much more laid-back pace... I really felt rushed at Devore.

I am a member of AVGC and live in Apple Valley, so it would have been a lot nicer to go there. You were kinda rushed along at Devore.

Was the class as large at AVGC? There were two large groups at Devore, half in class and half at the range at a time.

Ya, having been through the process now, I have a better idea how I will arrange my gear and range bag for next time.

Captain Marhoefer was the instructor, and he was assisted by volunteers from the club, so there was only one group, limited to 20 (I think they squeezed 22 into my class), we had classroom in the morning, lunch while watching a video, and then went out to the range for inspection and shooting.

Everyone was inspected in a line, then those shooting 3 guns went out to the first positions on the left, then for the 2nd round, those shooting 2 guns took the middle positions, then those shooting 1 gun took the right end and we were done.

Renewal at Devore is not the same as the initial class.
We have a large (150+) class in the large conference room at HQ at 1 in the afternoon... there are evening classes available at Rancho, Hesperia, and Yucky Valley.

Those modifying and needing to qualify take their range card to Devore on one of the specified dates... when I did mine it was 1st and 3rd Wednesday evening and 1st and 3rd Saturday morning.

Of course, I'm not sure how AB2103 is going to work out... it's on Brown's desk.
It won't change the classroom requirements from what SBSD has been doing, but it will require live-fire for renewals in addition to initial qualification.
It's going to suck for our friends in OC, who recently went from 3 to unlimited. Though OC doesn't host their own classes, the approved instructors are going to be a lot busier spending time on the range for renewals... no clue how that is going to impact the cost.

When I had my OC permit, the course was an evening and a Saturday morning followed by the shooting. There were some renewal guys there on Saturday but I don't recall if they had to shoot or not after we were done. They might have just had to do a certain number of hours of class time. When Hutchens first took over as Sheriff in OC, she was not lenient in her issuance policy so she did not renew my license for insufficient just cause.

My son's friend just got his OC license. He's a young guy so I don't expect that he has that many handguns.

So we do not currently have to shoot again if we are keeping the same guns on our list? That makes sense, but this IS California.

Currently there is no requirement for re-qualification on the state level. Some counties may.
The new law, if Brown signs it, will require a minimum of 4 hours classroom and live-fire for both applications and renewals.
The original draft stated a maximum of 16 hours, but it was removed from the final bill.

Is AB2103 the same one that had the extension for the time the permit is valid for? Because I didn't see that in the current bill.

                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

AB1931 was the 5-year term, it did not pass
AB1932 would have required the DOJ to clear background checks in 60 days.
We also lost AB2318, which would have exempted churches on the property of K12 schools from SB202.

I read through the posts on here, so I had a plastic range box and I just put my ammo, ears and the three pistols in that. At the line, it went in front of the red line on the ground and was it was easy to grab each pistol and the clips from there.
