They may be forced to sanction/accept private instruction... at least for the range qualification for renewals if not classroom and initial applications.

Absolutely.

On the live-fire requirement, it will be a bigger impact on us than counties that run private training.
We're stuck with one range that is already overloaded. Counties that accept private training, there are dozens of classrooms and a dozen or so indoor ranges available, plus private training can be on a more flexible timetable... or if one wants to pay extra, personal 1 on 1 training.

The drawback, the county would lose control over curriculum, and there would also be complaints from people who can't pass standards that a private trailer may set that are beyond the current county standards.

Personally, I think anyone carrying a firearm in public should work toward being able to pass the NRA Defensive Handgun class... but I don't feel that it should be a legal or policy requirement for a person to be able to defend themselves.

Why can't the county demand minimum curriculum requirements for private training? It'd take work, but it'd be a heck of a lot less resource-intensive than doing all the training themselves.

Okay I have one that I've never heard before.

My friend had to reschedule his first appointment. He made it to the second appointment date. Appointment number 2 was back in May. In late July I asked him if he had heard anything. He said not yet.

So I had forgotten to check with him until earlier today. When he replied he said that they want to have a second interview. He's now scheduled for a second interview on December 3rd.

He said that he called Sarah and she said that this is not uncommon. I've never heard of this before. Anyone else ever hear of this happening?

Honorable discharge from the Navy. Several years working for one of the few firearms manufacturers in the state of California. Never did anything worse than I did in highschool. I know because we did a lot of it together. I'm not sure what they might be looking at.
