So it's up to the county how long their license is for? I had assumed the two years for a kommiefornia thing!?Originally posted by WASR10I hope AB2103 is vetoed, if only to not add unneeded pressure to IAs. But failing that, I hope that requirement inspires SBSD to extend renewal to 5 years to ease the pipeline. My last renewal the instructor said 5 year renewal was being discussed anyway, so this proposed law may just be a boost. This law would, however, decrease the likelihood of more than 3 guns on the license.
I'd like to see more guns for SB county just to have hubby's guns, and for him to have mine on each others licenses. Then if for some reason we need to hold each other's guns we could do it.... Or even in the car for that matter... if it's a long trip and one or the other or both want to take the gun out of the waistband and have it sitting there in the car... can't because each other isn't licensed...
I understand the sherriff's thought process that he thinks you can't be proficient in that many guns (and you do need to be proficient in a carry gun).... even if they would do just married couples with more than three (only being the 3 the spouse has) but I'm sure that would be an administrative nightmare!Guns and diamonds are a girl's best friends!

AB1931 was the 5-year term, it did not pass
AB1932 would have required the DOJ to clear background checks in 60 days.
We also lost AB2318, which would have exempted churches on the property of K12 schools from SB202.

Absolutely.Originally posted by WASR10With the variation in process, requirements, and number of firearms through various counties, confusion should be understandable.
Still, 5 year renewal would be nice.
On the live-fire requirement, it will be a bigger impact on us than counties that run private training.
We're stuck with one range that is already overloaded. Counties that accept private training, there are dozens of classrooms and a dozen or so indoor ranges available, plus private training can be on a more flexible timetable... or if one wants to pay extra, personal 1 on 1 training.
The drawback, the county would lose control over curriculum, and there would also be complaints from people who can't pass standards that a private trailer may set that are beyond the current county standards.
Personally, I think anyone carrying a firearm in public should work toward being able to pass the NRA Defensive Handgun class... but I don't feel that it should be a legal or policy requirement for a person to be able to defend themselves.- Rich
