So, what happens if they come by to do the residence check and no one is home?

They talk to your neighbors. If none of your neighbors are home I bet they would just come back another time.

          Crazy.
For a while it seemed like the employment and residence checks were happening within a couple of weeks of the interview.
Sounds like their field reps have either been busy on criminal investigations, there's been a bunch of applications, or maybe summer vacations put the pinch on them?

Hmm... Have they been running a recruitment drive? Our applications are handled by HR and I imagine the same people processing our apps are also processing employment background checks.

Any idea what AB1134 might do? I am scheduled to have my interview in a week and I am worried that I will pay the money and wait the time only to have everything shut down.

I don't see anything in the language that would shut everything down.

San Bernardino County used to require this if you did not live in a contract city.
It was a formality, and often times you could get the "Denied without prejudice" form letter within a couple of days.

When Hoops retired and McMahon took over, he not only eliminated this requirement, but also eliminated the requirement for written and telephone personal references.
I would not expect 1134 to effect any change in the IE.
It will make it easier for Imperial to deny, but given that there are not many cities in Imperial with their own police departments, even that will not be a huge difference... and the Imperial County SD just might find that Brawley, Westmoreland, and Imperial City just might decide to start issuing.

Of course, the catch-22 is that the SD is the agency that must drive the pact with the local PD. If ISD believes that Westmoreland will be likely to issue, then they simply don't create a pact with that city.

The bill was driven by LASD.

Yes, they were happening in very short order before and right around election time. Now that the sheriff has been in for awhile, things have slowed down quite a bit. I hope it's just a coincidence.

While it is true that the DOJ is backed up with background checks, but the delays in SB are considerably longer than that.

It's time to renew, long story short I was going to be deployed so I took the renewal class early. Besides the $52 and $37 money orders what forms do I need?

Do I need a notary? Living history etc?

My understanding is other than the cost, the process is identical for application or renewal.

Which also means that if you were not 100% honest on your initial application, or embellished, or omitted something....

...it MIGHT get picked up on the renewal.
