They don't ask about the Russian mafia.. I found it odd also.

As I recall, the question was worded "Gangs" and "Motorcycle Clubs"... "Motorcycle Gangs" may have been in there, I'm not sure, but the Russian Mafia, Mexican Mafia, Aryan Brotherhood, etc... they would all be covered by the question.

Nobody affiliated with a motorcycle club will admit that it is a gang.
Some are, most actually aren't, but none will admit it, even when wearing their patch, so they include alternate phrasing in the question.

If the answer is "Yes", I'm sure the follow-on questioning would be what club, what was your capacity/position, how involved were you in club business or aware of business of other clubs, etc....

And the Southern Cruisers and HOG are not "Motorcycle Clubs"... they are "Riding Clubs", though some riding club members do have affiliations with the MCs.

There are MC's that fly panels/patches that aren't "motorcycle gangs" . I get why they are asking if you are in a gang, Its just an odd that they use general terms and then are concerned about people who operate a specific type of motor vehicle with friends or acquaintances . They ask about gangs, which would cover motorcycle gangs, then specifically ask about motorcycle gangs.

As you can see from my time line, it took me about 2.5 months for my background to clear but they advised that it may take up to 90 days. You're right around the 2.5 month mark yourself so hopefully you'll get a call within the next 2 weeks.

Yup its been 83 days so if I don't here from them within a week I will give them a call to check.

Gwolff, I called SBSD today to check status, left message and five hours later got a call saying I passed background and she scheduled my range date.

I would call. I notice when I had my interview and when I return to submit paper work, there were training new people. Your file may be sitting around on someones desk collection dirt. After all you had gone through, I would be calling. You are much more patient than me.

Well meedward I'm happy I listened to you. I called and found out that they are just waiting on Upland PD to return a record check on me. I asked if I could just provide the denial letter from them which contained a notice for the county that they have no history of contact with me in their records. She said yes! So I faxed it over. That was the last piece of the puzzle, so now I'm just waiting.

Just got a call from Det Logan telling me I passed background. She'll call me when my permit is ready to pick up. So exciting! All together it's taken me 8 months since I scheduled my original interview appointment.
