I can tell you're not dealing w/a SF Bay Area sheriff if a CGN T-shirt is not "particularly inflammatory, controversial, or offensive."

How often do they hold range days? I was hoping they'd contact me last week to let me know my BG is complete, but so far no call, so not sure if I'll be going to the 2/21 class.

One weekend a month at the Apple Valley Gun club (2 classes). Not sure about the other location.

          Hello CGers!

I just moved to redlands for grad school (in the healthcare field). I have read most of the 30 something pages of this thread, and have a question before I apply. I have only lived in redlands for about 6 months now and I have a lease for one year. I still need to have lived in redlands for the full year before I apply?
I do shoot recreationally as a hobby, as do most of us, and feel like personal protection will be necessary given my access to medications, etc.

BTW, so much great info on this board. Love this community. Ooh rah

No X period of residency required and no X period of future residency required. Apply away! Only thing is if Redlands has their own PD. I don't remember if SBSD requires you to be denied by city department first.

Nope, you don't. I was in the same exact situation you are. I called and asked and was told to apply and not worry about it. I only had 7 months into my lease at the time when I applied. I had no problems. I passed backgrounds and will be doing the range qualification on the 21st.

Redlands does have their own PD. I will look into the "being denied first" issue. In the meantime, anybody familiar with how redlands works?

You don't need to apply with redlands PD first. My city has a PD too and I didn't bother. It was never even brought up during the interview.

Maybe I can ask y'all for your opinion regarding something. Before I entered the healthcare field, I applied for LAPD reserves (I like serving). However, I was dq'd from LAPD reserves because my background investigator deemed me "dishonest" regarding some unauthorized absences during my military service. I had admitted to them even before being assigned a background investigator in my application packet, but apparently he stated to me that there were more UA's than I had written down in my packet. I, in all honesty, wrote down all the UA's that I remembered. How much will my LAPD DQ affect my ccw application ? This was 4 yrs ago.

I don't see it affecting it at all. Applying for a sworn position has a much much higher standards when doing backgrounds. You are over thinking it. Just apply, so long as you have no serious stuff your background, you'll be fine

Espo's right on the money. I've applied to many PDs and LEAs in the past. They don't ask too much about it, but I'm sure they'll look into it. That being said, despite my DQ's, my backgrounds check seems to be moving along. They did Work Verification more than a month ago, and neighbors got door knocks last week.

Interviewed today. Seemed like everything went well. Does anyone know how long backgrounds have been running lately?

Thank you much. Will apply soon!

It's been exactly 2 months today since I've had my interview. Still no call for range day yet. Others have had better luck in about a month and a half. I'm expecting a call any day now...
