I have heard that some have used conversion barrels after adding them to the permit same as any other gun, however, that seems to contradict those who have had issues where DOJ screwed up their registration and tagged the wrong caliber.

But, again, it is best to call and ask.

I can back this up. In a CCW renewal class just last month the Deputies in charge and Deputies working in the CCW unit said that for the very few CCW Applications that get DENIED in the last few years, a vast majority (#1 reason) of them were rejected were for the full time residency requirement.

A lot of people with Vacation homes in the SBCO mountains trying to get San Bernardino CCW licenses that don't live in their homes/cabins in the mountain areas that don't live in them full time.

Well finally got my app submitted, wife did hers as well. We had to get her g42 back from Glock because of some malfunction issues. After submitting we both got this reply where you would choose the interview date

"Currently No Appointments are available, you will get an email with instructions to set an appointment soon."

I guess this means its gonna be awhile. Ill call after the holidays if I don't get any email by then
Update email appt scheduled-6 months away

            Hello,

I have a question that I'm hoping someone can answer. Can I schedule the range CCW certification on my own before having to get word from SBSD that my background cleared in order to save time? I had my interview and residence/employer check in October and when I spoke to Sara a couple of weeks ago she said that they were waiting on the DOJ background to come in. Figured I could take the CCW range class on my own while the DOJ comes in, but wasn't sure if I have to get approval from SBSD first before signing up for the class. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Spend more time at the Cabin than you do in LA, get your CDL address changed to the Cabin and offer them that paperwork from the DMV.

A little help please from someone that has applied. The resident history form at the bottom has " the list all police contact section " . My question is , is this where you list all of the traffic convictions?

Old problems are like dry poop, if you let the dry poop sit it doesn't smell but the minute you decide to stir the poop with a stick, the smell comes back. Moral of the story, Don't bring up old problems!

I'm pretty sure you can't. That is probably why they list the caliber next to the model to make sure people don't caliber swap. You can swap out sights, lights, grips, etc but don't mess with calibers or trigger pull. If you want to take th grittiness out of your M&P (I carry the same 40c and know the triggers are gritty) you can as long as trigger pull isn't affected. I plan on putting an Apex Trigger AEK only because it will make the trigger pad feel more like my Glock and it isn't going to mess with trigger pull weight.

No. They'll call you after backgrounds are passed.

Actually I think you may be able to. You would have to qualify with both calibers and both would have to be listed. At least they used to do this.

So the same gun would be listed twice with different calibers? As in, one gun would account for 2 of your 3? Hmm interesting...

Actually I believe they used to list it on one line but do the multiple calibers under that section. Not sure if it's done anymore. Rice paper days was the last I heard of it.

                            No.
Det Logan (or whoever is handling your case) will call you when you clear and will inform you when your class is.
In my case, I was offered next weekend in Apple Valley or the 16th in Devore.
Next weekend is the Ontario Gun Show, but the 16th is the next Costa Mesa show.
I opted for next week both because of that and to hopefully get my permit before my birthday.

And don't forget that a deputy will be interviewing neighbors asking things like "How long have you known him?" "What kind of neighbor is he?" "Any arguments or loud parties?" "Any racist comments?"

If you intend to use the cabin as your primary residence, the time to make that change is NOW. It's going to be 4-6 months before the interview and another month or two before the deputy visits.

You will also be asked during the interview how long you have been a resident of the county.

Dishonesty will get you the boot.

                            Just what it says.
All police contact, whether as a victim/reporter or as a detainee, whether it resulted in a citation or not.

You don't know WHAT is on your record, and they have the ability to go back further than the 3 years on the DMV report.
The interview itself will include completing a similar form.. IIRC, about 50 questions, with pages to explain any "Yes" answers. I used 3 pages for my explanations.

Be honest and provide them with everything, even if you were let off with a warning... if there is ANY documentation in the system, they will know about it. I have not been cited since 1992, but I did list several "stop and talk" incidents.

LE contact is LE contact, so yes, that is where I included my contacts... all that I could reasonably recall.
Funny how on the way out of the interview, two undisclosed contacts from 30 years ago suddenly came to mind.
