Oh boy. Lots of changes right now. Need to check the day before you go in to make sure you have it all right. Trying to get my wife setup. I've had mine for years.

Well the update before this one said once again you had to live in a Sheriff patrolled city in order to apply. So i called and the lady who answered said, "dont worry about it, follow the old instructions". So now its back to reside in san bern county. Question is do i bring guns inside or leave in the car lol. They can't get their crap right

Always safe to leave in car until they tell you to retrieve. Logan is a stickler and will light you up. Either way just make sure to have it locked.

And yeah always best to call and get instructions. It's old school and has always worked. Problem with the site is they are not web developers so there has got to be both miscommunication and time delay between them and the web developers who likely have no clue about Ccw.

True. I think I am going to call the day before and ask what they want me to do.

            The "Rev. 9/30/14" version says,

DO NOT bring any firearms or other weapons to your appointment at the Employee Resources Division. Weapons will be inspected on the range during the Firearms Safety Course. (emphasis in original)

That sounds pretty clear to me.

Call ahead, despite what seems pretty clear, I was told this does not start until November.

Something like that. I don't see why it would hurt to properly transport and have in your trunk. Just don't take it inside. That way it's available just in case. Heck you might find a range on the way home.

If you've already called ahead there won't be any question as to whether or not to take your handguns. If they tell you to bring them just make sure your container is locked until they ask you to unlock it.
Also, regarding Det. Logan, I've seen many people say she is a hard *** or tough etc., she was actually pretty easy going for me, I totally flaked and forgot the residence history form, she grabbed me a new one to fill out during our interview. I guess it depends on the people she deals with on any particular day. I know there were 4 no shows the day before my interview, I imagine that type of thing could get annoying. I think as long as you don't go in with an attitude you'll be fine. I think the stats for last year were like 732 applicants, 721 permits issued.

Joyce is no longer working at the department, seemed like things ran smoother when she was there. Now it takes forever to get someone to pick up the phone.

Got the call from Det. LOGAN today, passed the background check. So my timeline so far:
                          June 4-called to schedule interview
                          Sept. 4- interview, live scan
Unknown-residence check, never came to door while me or wife were home, neighbors have not mentioned any visits from any deputies.
                          JAN. 10- range day
Assume by end of January will have permit in hand, total 7 1/2 months.
Could have done range day on Dec 14 at Apple valley, but for various reasons chose to wait.

That's too bad. Joyce was very pleasant to deal with and professional.

My understanding is that applicants were required to fill out an additional questionnaire during the interview. Can anyone verify if that is actually the case?

Yes, you fill out a couple of forms and answer an additional 25 or so questions. Simple yes or no check boxes.
