Update. I just called the number on their CCW Page and asked about residency requirements. I was told that they no longer require 1 year of residency nor do they require proof of further residency. Of course if you move out of the county, you surrender your license, but otherwise, you're good to go! Filling out my app now.

Also, they're using the CA DOJ forms. This is all relatively new since it was very different 5 months ago when I first called. I have a feeling that the Sheriff is more pro-2A than many may believe. I'll wager that they'll make short work of the FPC's demands, by simply abiding by the rules. Neat!

For a while, they required having 9 months left on a lease.
That meant not only living here a year but also showing you were going to be here an additional 9 months...
Those with month to month rental agreements were either out of luck or had to have a conversation with their landlord...
Call them and ask again. I was told that you simply have to be a San Bernardino resident.

no utility bills or rental agreements, then?
*anyone could be typing these messages, and probably not while under oath.

You will still need to bring those to prove that you are a resident. However, the lease agreement will not need to specify that you will be a resident for another 9-12 months as previously required. So if you have a month-to-month agreement of any sort that should satisfy the proof of residency, and the most recent utility bill with your name on it should satisfy that you are a current resident of the given address within the county.

Have you followed up with them? If so, what did they say? I had my interview 7/18 and still haven't heard back

That's not too bad.. probably about average I think. I've heard of people getting into appointments within a week when there's a cancellation. For me it was just over 4 months from phone call to appointment.

How long did it take you to get scheduled for the class and receive the license? Just trying to get a feel for the pace of things.

I'm still working my way through the process so I'm not there yet. Two different people that work there, while I was there, told me the process normally takes 90 days to complete. I was told at a CCW open house that the investigation part is averaging 35 days. At the interview I was told by the person that did the livescan that the biggest holdup to that is the records search with the FBI and/or other federal agencies is sent by snailmail and takes about 4 weeks to get back to them in San Bern.

They seem pretty confident in the 90 day thing from the date of the interview. I kinda think that they give interview appointments based on their workload and getting it all wrapped up in that 90 days to include the class, firing, and getting you the license.

BTW, my interview was the 18th of last month, so I'm hoping for a phone call by the end of this month to schedule the class.

Ah okay, thanks. So it's all roughly about 3 months from the time you call it seems. I'm just glad I don't need to wait until March which would fulfill the old 1-year residency requirement.
