The yes or no questionnaire if I remember correctly was about arrests, drug use, etc. The only questions I specifically remember were about marijuana use and other drug use which I answered honestly that I had used (pot 20 years ago) to both questions. You have to write an explanation if you answered yes to any question. I explained that I tried pot as a teenager and didn't like it, and wrote see above for the next question about General illegal drug use. That was the only thing I was concerned about. Apparently they care more about honesty than pot use from that long ago as I got my call yesterday that I was cleared. I did answer yes to one other question, I think it asked if you were ever a victim of a crime. Filled out this and a couple other forms waiting for live scan.

Is there drug use (as a minor) that gets you DQ'd? I don't necessarily want to get specific but suffice it to say there's some 3 letter drugs as well as other drugs in my past. No IV stuff though.

I ask because I've been clean since The mid-late 80's. I'm coming close to finishing all my paperwork for the application but don't want to waste time/money if it's going to be a no.

I can only attest to my experience, and that was pot in '93, and it did not dq me.

Only thing I can say is look at how your life is now and how it's got there sine those times. You'll know by that answer whether or not you have a chance.

No one here will truly be able to answer that for you, especially without knowing more of the specifics (not that I'm asking you to share that).

I say just go for it and be totally honest. If you get denied it would be during the background so you would only be out about $100 or so for the livescan.

              San Bernardino County CCW experience

Called for interview on 06/23/14. Interview was on 09/23/14, the deputy at the interview was very helpful, and already had anything and everything printed out on me from San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles counties, tickets, accidents, guns registered under my name, etc that was in the systems. Including my previous live scan from a couple years prior, which is related to something else. As far as the reason why I needed a CCW, which I put down for self protection and the protection of my family, he told me to add I am applying for a CCW due to the increasing crime statistics in San Bernardino County, and due to the Governor releasing inmates from our jails. After I put all that down, he highlighted several key words, and underlined several other key words. The next door neighbor was not home on 10/09/14 for the deputy. The neighbor said a card was left with a phone number. The neighbor said he would call. The deputy never knocked on my door, I checked the cctv. Called the employer today 10/13/14, who stated that they received the packet from the Sheriffs department on 10/10/14 via snail mail. They said they would have it mailed out by tomorrow 10/14/14. So things seem to be moving along pretty well. Just a waiting game to see what happens.

Is it possible to do a pre back ground check some where. I was told you have to fill out all police interactions. I have some seat belt tickets and moving violation tickets that were years ago but they want exact dates and issuing agencies. Is it also true you have to put down any time the police have come to your house regardless if there was ever an arrest or not?
Old problems are like dry poop, if you let the dry poop sit it doesn't smell but the minute you decide to stir the poop with a stick, the smell comes back. Moral of the story, Don't bring up old problems!

                  Pre Background Check

This was not necessary for me when I went. The deputy already had all of my tickets and accidents printed out, with case numbers, violations that I was cited for, and dates. All of mine were over 10 years ago, and he let me borrow his print out so I could write them all down on my questioner form that he had me fill out during the interview. So even though the application only asks for 5 years back, they want to know about any and all tickets or accidents in your past. Hope that helps.

You can get an H-6 printout I think it is from the DMV which will list all your traffic stuff. You should know if you have any criminal stuff. As far as coming to your house then yeah list it. They will know if they patrol your neighborhood and if they don't they will ask your city PD. Just list as best you can. As long as you aren't a felon or something else really big then they are looking for honesty. Accuracy to the point of the exact date isn't as important as you telling them but leaving approximate dates. Don't sweat it. This county is good to go.

I haven't turned in my application yet, still in the process of gathering all the info.

I got a DMV printout of my driving history because I could not find/remember the information of two speeding tickets. To my surprise, there were no moving violations on my record. I asked the lady at the DMV if it was a mistake but she said the system was not showing anything. My insurance company, Wawanesa confirmed this as well.

I have 3 speeding tickets, 1 from 2013 (CHP Riverside - traffic school), One i think from 2010 (CHP San Bernardino - no traffic school) and one from 2009 (Ontario PD - traffic school). I called the SO and spoke with Sarah and she said just put down the dates and issuing agency. I informed her that I did not know exact dates and that I believe I know the agency that issued them.

She instructed me to just put down the years and the agency I think issued the violation. She said as long as I put something down and not try to hide it I would be fine.

I only post this in case someone is in a similar boat but I would still call the SO just to confirm and remember who you spoke to. On the bright side, apparently I have a clean driving record lol.

Got a call from detective Logan today, a class opened up at the sheriff's range on December 13, wanted to know if I wanted to bump up from my January date. I took it. So time line assuming all goes well will be about 6 1/2 months from scheduling to complete.
Also, fyi, all gun checks after the end of this month will take place at the range when you go to qualify. Up until then you can still have them checked at the office.

Searched and came up empty. I'm trying to buy a g26 off another member for ccw and the frame and barrel have same serial number but slide has a different one. Will I still be able to use it for ccw? I tried calling SD but didnt get through. The numbers are the same except last 2 numbers, it must've been a Friday afternoon at the plant! The frame is considered the firearm correct? Thanks

Update: FYI for anyone else wondering Det Logan called me back and said its a nogo unless you have a letter from the manufacturer stating that they changed it, which unfortunately the seller doesn't have because it looks like it was a mistake that Glock and the FFL didn't catch it when it was sold.

i work for a city in the Los Angeles county who I know are very anti gun. I was wondering if anybody who is a city employee has applied for a CCW and the problems they had, if any, when the city received the employer questionnaire?
