Yup, just to confirm what 38Special said, they are doing the class in house but not using the SBSD range for qualifications at this time.

Not sure if they will go back to it but from what I got from Det. Dominick, if the outsourcing of the range time goes smoothly, they will probably stick with that.

He didn't seem too fond of handling new shooters at the SBSD range. lol

      Interview was on Nov 16th

      Class was today.

Over all, took about 8 months.

Just need to stop by the range on Saturday to qualify and turn in my range card.

Something is wrong here. My interview was in July of 2020 and I still haven't heard anything.

I emailed Sarah and asked if they had my correct info. She emailed back and said "info is correct".

Do they not tell you if your denied?

I cant see why I would be because I had my CCW in orange county for a long time with no issues.

      Should I submit another application?

Also, Prado was great for qualifying. I was looking in to WEGC and Rt66 ranges but they were limited on weekend options.

Prado is like 10 minutes from my house and it looks like they are doing quals every Friday and Saturday, which is nice that I don't have to take time off work again for the range qual.

Qualification class/times are from 10 AM to 4 PM on both days.

B27 target at 5 yards and need to put 10 rounds within the 8 ring.

Prado required a mag change after 5 rounds but not sure if it is the same for every range.

Oh and make sure you get BOTH range cards signed, the Study copy and the Range copy. Raul, the master RSO will sign the Range copy and the instructor at the firing line will sign your Student copy. You will turn in the Range copy to the SBSD office.

Yeah that seems weird. I believe you are supposed to get a response if it got denied for whatever reason. Since it has been more than 6 months, perhaps try emailing them again to see what is going on?

The magazine change is required by the sheriff's office.

            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Correct as of your class date but seems from the post below that they are going back to in-house range time. Otherwise why would they schedule your range???

That's true. I was waiting on the live class before I scheduled so wasn't aware they were planning it all for you. Just seemed like they didn't want to do the in house range anymore during class.

Based my answer off the comment from ArmyVet1.
In the past they arranged everything so like I said they may be going back to that.
It is always subject to change!!

Just go where they tell, you when they tell you, would be my best advise!

Much thanks for everyone fielding noob questions from newcomers.

Good luck to everyone going through the process.

Congrats. It is a milestone for sure. Work hard like most of the rest of us to not let our Sheriff down.
