      Bad News Alert

Range sessions cancelled for 4/11 and 4/18. Once your permit expires, no more CCW. I will expire this month. After a 6-month lapse you must reapply as new. Unknown when they will be able to host range sessions and no way this state legislature is going to enact any emergency extensions. No legal way to protect yourself outside the house. This royally sucks.

Not SBSD's fault. They have it hard enough. I place the blame directly on our poor excuses for legislators in this state. Really disappointed.

Were you scheduled for a range day for a renewal?

Just got the email too. My 4/18 date was cancelled. My question is, I have my new ccw, with a 2022 expiration date, but since I have not re-qualified, is my permit actually valid since I haven't completed the *whole* process?

**Just emailed Sarah, will post back if anyone has the same question.

Yes, 4/11 AM to qual with all three on my 2020 permit. This was one of those "emer range sessions" to comply with state law. Not happening now...

No it isn't. We needed the qual to validate our permits even though we have them in-hand. If caught carrying past your exp. date without the validation, you will be in violation of CA law.

In your case, your permit is temporarily invalid until qual.

I was scheduled too for 4/11 in the AM. I'm going to write Sheriff McMahon and ask him to press the DOJ about renewals not having to qualify on weapons they have already qualified with and are on our permits. These are extraordinary times, people are sacrificing much in their daily lives. Seems to me that this would be the decent thing to do. What could it hurt, I have nothing else to do.

That's a good idea and if more than one person does the same the chances of a resolution to the problem is higher.
I'm in Kern county and we did our range shooting 1 on 1 in the rain.

I’d be willing to email him too, do you have an email for him directly? Feel free to PM me if needed too. This is just wrong on the highest of high levels. At a time when perhaps we need to protect ourselves and family the most, they leave us with nothing....unacceptable.

I cannot find an email address for him anywhere. Here is all the contact information I could find:

                          John McMahon, Sheriff/Coroner
                          655 E. Third St.
                          San Bernardino, CA 92415-0061
                          Telephone: (909) 884-0156
                          Fax: (909) 387-3402
                          Website: http://wp.sbcounty.gov/sheriff/

I am first going to reply to the email I got canceling my range date and go from there.

Ok thanks, keep us posted. I also completed my full renewal and received my 2020-2022 card, and I expire next month. I haven't heard anything from the dept. yet, but we ALL need to strongly voice our opposition to this circumstance....

Just heard back from sbsd, if you have a new permit, expiring in 2022, buy have not yet re-qualified, your permit IS still good to go.
