Hello all,

I am fairly new to California and just moved to SB county and wanted to apply for my CCW.

On the initial instructions form, it lists the following as required documents.

This is probably a dumb question but I just need to provide my Driver's license and my utility bills correct? Do I really need to provide a copy of the property tax bill? Or any of the other documents mentioned?

I just bought my house like 2 months ago and I have no idea when I will get a copy of my deed and don't believe my property tax will be paid any time soon...

If you fail to bring the required documents, you will be turned away and asked to re-schedule your interview

Since you do not have your current property tax bill, bring your mortgage/property deed.

CHECK YOUR EMAIL THE RENEWAL CLASS IS ON LINE. DID YOU ASK. DID YOU TAKE AND PAY THE DOJ AND 2 SBSD MONEY ORDERS WHEN YOU TURNED IN YOUR APP. THE RANGE PORTION I DID PRADO SPORTSMAN RANGE.

Why all caps?

I got no email. I simply started the renewal process since it expires in Sept. I followed the directions online. I submitted all 3 postal money orders, they kept two - 1 for SBSD and one for DOJ. They returned the third, saying to submit it at the class. I questioned the delay for the class and asked for other options - she offered none.

I did renewal range test at Prado. They never asked for the third money order, but I did pay Prado the test fee.

Is this similar experience for everyone else? What happens to the third money order?

I believe you need to get that to the sheriff's department. Send Sarah an email and ask her.

Does anyone know when and why SB has banned standard capacity mags for carry? 6 years ago the captain that did my initial class specifically said if you legally own the standard mags go ahead and that was pre freedom week.
Of course they also didn't want trigger mods, which are now okay. Id rather have more ammo.

You can bring the money order any time during our normal business hours.

The third money order is to pay for the class. If you did it online, it wold go the Sheriff's Dept. I believe mine will be submitted when I go to class in Hesperia.

The range fee is paid to the facility where you shoot. It is not one of the money orders.

AFAIK...
People kept asking if they could do it and the admin staff got tired of answering that question, so 1-2 years ago they sent all of those inquires to the County lawyers, which made them change their policy to not allow it.

I went on my own. Although I have not heard anything back yet. Tried email and voicemail to determine any other issues that might now be required with no success. I did not see anything that said to wait until you were notified?

My buddy was looking on the CCW site and that qualification are held at Prado or in Hesperia. I got down to Prado July 8, shot my qualification and received my new card on the 17th! Talk about quick. Doing the qualification at Prado was easy, just get there early and they are closed on Mondays.

Thanks, I ended up going on my own on the 14th. Just waiting to hear back as my renewal paperwork was turned in mid June.

Yeah, my stuff was all complete back in March. Still have not heard or received anything from them. Anybody have a better contact email than the ccwinfo one?
