Thanks for confirming
The renewal class is the same as the class for the initial permit, 2 years ago.
They want everything in the packet filled out, except for the signatures, despite the directions in the packet. It saves them time so they can get more people through when you turn in paperwork in SB. For good cause, just write a short statement: to defend yourself from bodily injury from criminals. They said that if you want to write a story, they don't mind reading what motivates people, but it is not necessary.
When I initially applied, I asked them to not contact one specific neighbor as they have had many visits from PD and I did not want them to even know SDCSD was interacting with me or that I had firearms. I also listed a couple neighbors who have known me for many years, and they did interview one of them. It seems that they do pay attention to the details and do care.
They scheduled me for the class more than 90 days from my expiration, and said to turn in my paperwork at less than 90 days......Some of us in the class had not turned in paper work and some had....no big deal.
Also, as stated on here, they said that the number of calls they get is crazy. Sarah had 350 voice mails in one week, while she was on vacation. They prefer email. When I called to schedule the class, she did answer. I would probably skip voice mail if calling and just email if they don't answer.
The class had 200 people in it and another was said to have had 400 people. They are working as quickly as possible and I have only good things to say about the Sheriff and the 4 officers/detectives who handle CCW. It sounds like they are doing as much as possible while being stuck under the rule of this backward state.

Range qualification in San Bernardino for adding a firearm
Question for those who have gone through the process of range qualification for adding a firearm in San Bernardino....
I have my qualification this weekend in the Sheriff's range (by the academy) to add one gun onto my license. Just wondering if you guys can tell me how long that process will usually take? Is the qualification done in conjunction with those that are taking a class?
Thanks!Comment

I went to an evening Qualification session.
Was a bunch of people.
Some with a 3 guns.
Pretty straightforward.
Get in line, sign paperwork on the range.
Weapons are inspected and signed off.
Get called up to shoot.
Shoot.
Get card signed off.
Turn in paperwork and 1/2 card.
Walk to your vehicle smiling.
In and out in about 1 hr and 20 minutes.
*Took so long because I was near the end of the group.
No classroom, just the range portion of the original CCW process.Comment

Hi all, just a few questions about the SB county CCW permit process, please excuse me if these have been answered before.
1. What's the current time to get a permit, start to finish?
2. Is "self defense" a valid cause to apply? My friends in other counties say to avoid listing that as the justification for my CCW.
3. A dumb one, but just to be sure, a permit issued in SB county is valid in the entire state, correct?
4. Are they any fee or testing waivers for veterans?
Thanks in advance.Comment
