I used ab 109, prop 57,47 in my GC statement along with other stuff and then the deputy and I had a 5 min conversation on how stupid those laws are. It definitely gets them on your side, you can imagine how hard it makes their jobs.

It's good to see that Riverside makes it that clear. The guys in the OC forum are always fighting over whether they have to inform, and then inform their IA when they get stopped at a DUI checkpoint.
They have received conflicting answers. Their policy has some nebulous wording about "formal contact"
Most sane members seem to have the opinion that if they did not present their license, it was not a "formal contact" i.e. there is no possibility of the contact being documented with any identifying information.

As a part of my job, I have "formal contact" with LE almost daily, but I am aiding their investigations rather than being the subject.

I assume the fellow at the window next to me was on his initial application and she was really trying to work with him on embellishing his GC but he didn't seem to get it. The way they were going back and forth, with my hearing issues and the new safety glass, I had a hard time communicating with the person working with me.

With the hearing issue they may make arraignments to step outside the 'safety zone' to assist you. The did for me while I was in a wheelchair.

Can anybody clarify whether a light/laser combo would be an issue with the range test? Its a TLR-6 on a S&W shield.

I haven't heard anything about them. They're a quick on/off. I say take it with you.

Ya, I've never heard anything that would indicate that they would be a problem.

Personally? I'm not a fan. Lights are great for dazzling an intruder, but there's a reason that cops hold their flashlight high and off to the side in their support hand... IF the bad guy is able to sight in on the light, it's better to have his bullet passing 2ft to your left than into your face.

AFAIK...

SBSD does not have any issues with a light/laser installed on the handgun.

Even internal modifications are OK.
Duty/Carry/Service level springs and connectors are fine.
Competition level is a potential problem. If your trigger pull is over 3lbs, it will most likely pass, but may get a comment if it's on the low side.

Direct comments from my instructor (who is now retired, but was the guy who wrote the SBSD CCW training curriculum):

San Bernardino's attitude is that it is not their job to teach you how to shoot, and it is not their job to defend you in court after a shooting.
They present the situation that anything you do will be scrutinized by a hostile attorney. So long as everything you have done is defensible, it's not a problem.
