I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet but you can apply and interview through the Rancho Cucamonga Station of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. I was just notified in a city meeting that you can get an interview within one to four weeks if you are a Rancho Cucamonga resident.

You need to completely fill out the online application (including section #7) and PRINT THE APPLICATION. You should use the renewal application (this application is the same format but it can be printed). You also need to fill out the Notarized Authorization Form (and get it notarized), the Residence History Form and the Employment History Form. Once everything is completed and the required documents are obtained you simply email them at ccwrc@sbcsd.org including your name and a contact phone number (you don't need to include the application in the email, take the printed copy to the interview). They will contact you for an appointment based on their availability.

After your interview the process is the same as applying through Headquarters: Approximately three month background check, schedule your training/ range day, do your range day and get your permit.

The Detective also said you can go this route even if you have already applied online through Headquarters. If you have already applied and are waiting MONTHS for your interview then contact the Rancho Cucamonga Station via the email above and leave them your contact information and a brief summary of your situation.

Range day is Saturday. I had a buddy of mine (SBSD) run the gun and it's not registered yet so I think I'm gonna leave it unfortunately. DOJ is lacking...

I went to the range with a G43 I had PPT'd back in January '16. Got a call from SBSD a couple days later telling me it was not yet in my name in AFS. The Detective gave me a choice of not adding it to my permit or email her a picture of the serial number. I emailed her the picture along with a copy of my DROS. Gun was added to my permit with no further issue.

Similar to how they handle husband/wife with the same gun on both permits.
The marriage certificate confirms the relationship, so when the SD does their thing, the gun is effectively registered to both.

I got a call yesterday and was given a range date. They told me to bring the "Firearms Safety Flyer" and the "Weapon Verification Form". I didnt know what those 2 were, but was informed that I should have it with my stack of documents I took home from my interview.

I checked my docs and dont see either of those forms. I checked google and couldnt find anything. Does anyone know what the "Firearms Safety Flyer" and the "Weapon Verification Form" are?

Just FYI for you guys, got the call today and my little Jetfire had to be dropped as it wasn't registered by DOJ yet, so if you get a gun from a family member just dros it and wait 10 days...

Got a call on the 8th I'm guessing it was to set up my range date, but I had no service so they left me a voice mail telling me to call back. I called 2 hours straight and nobody answered. I hope I haven't missed a chance for an earlier range date.
