I went through my interview a couple of weeks ago.. I believe it was with deputy Diaz. He was pretty laid back and very informative. Total process interview plus livescan took me a total of about an hour and 15 minutes. I double and triple checked that I had all my paperwork and I grouped it all together in sections with paperclips. The deputy did mention that he was impressed with how organized I was and the fact that I showed up to the interview dressed in slacks a collared shirt and a tie. How you dress will make an impression. Now I wait for them to finish the background check and neighborhood check.

Range day is Saturday. I had a buddy of mine (SBSD) run the gun and it's not registered yet so I think I'm gonna leave it unfortunately. DOJ is lacking...

I'm waiting for the same. Transfer on Walther PPK S.
I was going to list, that's before I bought the P938.
Now I wish it wasn't going to hit the system.

                Take it.

The process of going through range qual will register it even if DOJ has not yet processed it.

                    I agree with taking it.

However, they will not add the handgun to your permit until it is registered with CA DOJ.
And the handgun needs to exactly match what is listed as in CLETS-AFS.

I've heard that too, it's definitely not in the system yet... Might just have to wait a bunch after qualification for DOJ to get it in gear?

                          Appointment 10/20
                          Interview and live scan 1/20
                          Passed background 3/31
                          Range date 5/14

From what I've seen posted, background has been taking about 10 weeks. With that info I was expecting a call this week or next.

I still have not received registration confirmation. Should I take that gun to class this weekend and hope it's registered, or should I say screw it and take my M9 instead and do the Jetfire in 2 years? Thanks.
                            Why not take both?

OK another question, do I need to report LE contact as of now, even though I don't have my permit yet? Long story short the wife and I found a body today and CA state parks LE took our full info down including DL. Thanks

                                Rancho Cucamonga Station Interview

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet but you can apply and interview through the Rancho Cucamonga Station of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. I was just notified in a city meeting that you can get an interview within one to four weeks if you are a Rancho Cucamonga resident.

You need to completely fill out the online application (including section #7) and PRINT THE APPLICATION. You should use the renewal application (this application is the same format but it can be printed). You also need to fill out the Notarized Authorization Form (and get it notarized), the Residence History Form and the Employment History Form. Once everything is completed and the required documents are obtained you simply email them at ccwrc@sbcsd.org including your name and a contact phone number (you don't need to include the application in the email, take the printed copy to the interview). They will contact you for an appointment based on their availability.

After your interview the process is the same as applying through Headquarters: Approximately three month background check, schedule your training/ range day, do your range day and get your permit.

The Detective also said you can go this route even if you have already applied online through Headquarters. If you have already applied and are waiting MONTHS for your interview then contact the Rancho Cucamonga Station via the email above and leave them your contact information and a brief summary of your situation.
