Detective Logan is actually very nice. However her job is to put you under stress and see how you react. Back when I got mine they had different interviewers but the one I had was very obviously trying to push my buttons. Stay calm, be professional.

Ah, I get it now, wondered, seemed kinda odd out of the blue the Sheriff insinuating I rode with a biker gang. I had someone other than Logan.

Sarah told me that the class will be waived for me, I'm just crossing my fingers they don't change their mind. When they call you in to pick up your permit, is it same day?

Yea, she was that way with me too. But you got to take into account that she doesn't know us and I'm sure she gets fed up having to deal with idiots and scumbags all day long so she's probably not the most welcoming initially. She did sound nice when she called to notify me that I cleared the background check though.

After my interview, I told my girlfriend that it was a little rougher than I expected, and this was pretty much exactly what she said to me. Glad I'm not the only one who was intimidated lol.

Number of firearms on CCW

Just curious has San Bernardino changed the number or firearms allowed on CCW? I heard Riverside changed from 3 to 6. Just curious if SB changed there policy.

BTW: Since the guns are no longer brought in at the time of application, that section of the application is no longer relevant, at least as far as if you have any changes during the 3 months between your application submission and interview. Don't bother to bring a revised page with you.

After Livescan, you go back to the Employee Resources counter and they complete everything, take a thump print, and two sheets for the class, one is the list of guns you want on your permit, and the other is the basic info on the class.


The instructions indicated to bring the original and copies of a number of documents. None of my copies were taken (and they were color).... The originals were taken to the back and B&W copies were made. The original birth certificate and driver's license were returned (but I would take copies anyways since the instructions ask for them).

For homeowners, the instructions are a bit unclear. In one section it indicates that proof of residence is the grant deed, OR property tax bill, OR utility bill. There is another section that lists "AND" a utility bill.
I took all 3... she didn't even look at the grant deed, but the tax bill and utility bill were both required. I'm completely paperless for billing and had no problem with a copy of my water bill printed from the city web site.

For the property tax bill, they just need the single page... not the 4-5 page detailed information on the property.


Birth certificate... The instructions ask for the original CERTIFIED certificate.
Of course, I was born ONE year before the point where LA County has archived birth certificates, so I was not able to bring the sheet home with me when I went to the office... I have to wait for it to be mailed, and it took about 3 weeks.
Make sure your certificate indicates that it is certified (or rather, does NOT indicate that it is not legal for identification, as the one that I used for years to cross the border did), and has an embossed stamp, microperf, or whatever your birth county uses.


The issue with the guns no longer being brought in have to do with a policy change from last November. No guns are allowed in the building (except for LEO) period.
If you are going in for a renewal, you will need to leave your gun in your car.

Okay... Ya... Everyone prints. Few people care. Those that recognize it assume you're legal, so I guess printing in the office would not be a good thing.

Actually I had mine in a case locked. And was told that I didn't need them and took them out to my car Det Logan gave me a lecture about it

Was just chatting with my boss about the process.

His issues with his ex-wife will make an interview with even a friendly county like SBDO very intense and time consuming.

If LACO ever starts issuing, I can't imagine what he would go through.



Okay, so question.... Assuming that Detective Logan moves you on to Livescan, is that an indication that the interview went satisfactorily?

Everything went fine I'm currently waiting to pick up my permit had my range date 2 weeks ago.
