Just found this site and read through all 59 pages. Thought I would post my time line.
            7/18/15: Submitted application
            7/21/15: Call to schedule interview
            10/15/15: Interview / Live Scan
            Unknown date of residency check.
1/12/16: Call, employment verification not received. Another one sent out.
            1/20/16: Employement verification returned.
2/2/16: Call from detective Logan, passed back ground check. Range date March 12th Devore.
Probably a 2 week delay due to employment verification.

As others have stated, the main time sink is the Live Scan. When I was there, only 1 machine was working and they were taking down and installing more machines (but had no idea when they would be up). The plus side is that in the future, the Live Scan should go much faster.
So the interview was pretty basic? Did they provide the form or is it one from the packet? Just trying to make sure all my ducks are in a row my interview is Friday morning

Just go through the packet 3 times and make sure that all of your paperwork is in order.
Most delays are caused by paperwork issues.
Property tax/lease agreements, ID, birth certificate (certified), application, job and residence history, notarized form, money orders for deposit on background plus Livescan....

Your app will be reviewed, you will be handed a supplemental list of questions with sheets to explain your answers, when done, the interviewer will go over those questions and answers.
If everything is cool, then you move on to Livescan, then go back to the HR counter and pick up some instructional paperwork for your range/class... then go home and wait for 3 months.

Don't worry if you change your mind on weapons to list... that page on the application is only glanced at, you will make your final list during class.

Unless it's got the governmental raised seal, they may not accept it.

What about good cause statements for San Bernardino ccw? My statement says
"I am applying for the CCW for my protection. I feel that with the police and sheriffs being spread thin, they may not be able to respond in time if there was a serious problem and i want to be able to protect myself and family if i needed to.

Yes or NO? think this is good enough

I would not say the portion about response times or LEOs spread thin. Sound too much like you want to take the law into your own hands and do an LEOs job for them.

Personal protection for self and family is good. It always sounds better, IMHO, when you add something to the effect that you would only use your firearm as a course of LAST resort once you've exhausted ALL other possible courses of actions. (Which would included turning and running). You don't want to seem like you are itching to carry or use your firearm. Just my $.02.

Had my interview today, exactly 90 days from application/Sarah's phone call.
Interviewer was professional and very sharp. After review of my originals and
taking what he needed from my copies, he left me with a questionnaire regarding my past, and some do and don't pages to sign while he went to run DMV. When he came back he did a review of my answers. Then directed to LiveScan. It was 1100 by then and was told to sign list and be back by 1300. When I returned the list was very long, and the technicians were advising LiveScan folks that the wait would be 2 hours. Bottom line in at 0945 for the 1000 interview time, out at 1345. Detective told me that soon, the applicant will be able to complete process at the counter. Also that by the time I renew, THAT process will also change. Overall a great experience with a very professional group of officers.
