Okay, I'm a little jelly now. My interview was a solid 2 weeks before yours and I still haven't heard whether I cleared background or not.
Edit: Just called and tried to confirm. Was told it hasn't been the full 90 days and to give them 2 more weeks. I am disappoint.Comment

Went to the range today to change out 2 guns on my permit. There were 5 people there to add guns, we all shot at the same time. It was a breeze as expected. Started at 2PM, in the car ready to leave at 2:12PM. He had us fill out our range card with our name, last 4 digits of social, and weapon information prior to shooting. He even checked the range card and signed it before shooting. I guess he figures if you fail, he simply wont turn in your range card. One of the other permitees was surprised I had a CCW at 24 years old. Everyone was friendly and happy to be there adding their new guns.Comment

My interview was 8/13, but the residence check wasn't until 10/21
OTOH, Tony's interview was 2 weeks after mine and I applied 4 days later.
On the employment check, I've had two meetings involving the public works director since the day of my residence check. Nothing was said and I was not taken aside after the meetings. My boss got a call from someone in HR, but we also have a new position listing.Last edited by Cokebottle; 11-02-2015, 7:37 PM.- Rich

I was very honest with HR, I went in there and let the manger know that I'm applying for my ccw and to expect some kind of employment check. I was lucky that she was also a gun lover and she even started talking about an ar15 she bought the prior week. I'm not sure why my background was finished so quickly, I can say I'm 24 with only 1 speeding ticket.Same here.

I too am not sure about my employment check, and I'm not about to go in there and ask. Our HR manager isn't what you would call a "friend of the employees."Same here.

I did a search of the thread but didn't find anything about it.
Does anyone know if having a non-resident permit from another State (Florida, Utah, etc.) carries any merit or value when applying to SB County, or is it not even a topic during the interview?
I too am a little concerned about the employer letter and how my HR might take it. Anybody have any knowledge on what happens if your HR Dept doesn't bother to return the letter?Comment

They'll ask if you've ever been issued a concealed carry permit, and it's part of the application. You may want to consider keeping it with your paperwork, though. The detective who did my interview didn't seem too thrilled that I kept my out-of-state permit in my wallet.I did a search of the thread but didn't find anything about it.

Ya... That is one reason that I have not yet applied for any non-res. It's like helmet laws... I get spoiled in Utah, AZ, and other free states where I don't need to wear a helmet. If I can't carry here, I really don't want to carry on vacation, particularly not being "used to carrying" and doing it first in a foreign jurisdiction.
But there have been those who have expressed concerns that you may be a CCW collector.
Now, personally, AZ and Florida will give me every state that I will potentially travel through.
WRT you carrying the out of state CCW in your wallet, some states do have issues with this. It is illegal to have both a Utah permit and a resident AZ permit on your person in AZ.- Rich

Who else out there is going to the December 12th class? How did you feel your interview went and any tips for those guys that are looking to apply for their ccw?Comment

I had a renewal class last week.
Sheriff John McMahon was present at the beginning of the class and stated that they were shy about ~20 CCW Licenses away from hitting the 4,000 mark.Comment
