I've got a question I hope you guys can help me with.
I own a cabin in the San Bernardino mountains but my main house and job is in LA county. I'm at my cabin most weekends and a few weeks during the summer. Since LA is still pretty much a non-starter, I've been wondering if I can apply for my CCW through San Bernardino. I've seen on their application that you need to be a "full time" resident, but I've got property tax statements, utility bills, etc. Is it legal for me to apply through San Bernardino since I own property there or is there some restriction against this?

I am not an expert. Best thing to do is call them and ask them.

      But think about this.

When they do the background check you don't think they will see your LA address? When the interview your neighbors at the cabin you don't think they will ask them if you live there full time???

The whole "Full Time Resident" thing was to stop people like you from shopping counties.

Number one reason for getting rejected, if you are not a disqualified person, is

Not being a full time resident

Number 2 reason is misrepresenting facts on your application.

      Sorry.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

I am self employed. When they did mine they did not send me a letter to verify I work for me. They did not check with past employers. It's been 20 years, most of my past employers are probably dead.

AFAIK they did not do anything to verify self employed/retired. Course in my case all they needed to do was pick up a phone book.

Best bet: stay legal. I'd be willing to bet there would be some hot water if you were to get pulled over with a SB county carry permit and an LA address on your drivers license. Make your cabin your full time residence and you should be gtg.

The permit is issued by the state, but yes, it is a problem.
If you move to a different county, you are required to notify your IA and your permit becomes invalid in 30 days.

Is anyone willing to scan and upload their permit, of course, with personal information redacted, for those of us who have never seen one?

The permit is issued by the SB County Sheriff's Department.

People like me? I find it interesting how quickly we can turn on each other.
I'm not looking to break any laws, that's why I came here asking questions. I also intend to contact the SBSD to ask them, but it has been my experience that cops are often not very knowledgeable when it comes to firearms regulations. I 'd like to be fairly certain of the answer before I ask them.

I don't live "full time" in either county. Is that supposed to disqualify me from getting a permit anywhere? Yes, I'm trying to learn this broken permit system (and in my opinion, illegal) so that I can take full advantage of it. I'm not willing to break any laws doing it though.

Changing my stated residence on my driver's license is easy and of course I would do that. I'm just wondering if that is all it takes. I'm paying taxes in both counties. I'm supporting both LASD and SBSD with that tax money. It seems like I should be able to use either department's services, but again, I want to get smarter before I pursue this.
                Thanks again for the advice.

I previously fell into the same situation as you with property in SB County and split time. I called SB and asked and at the time their response was as long as you can document your residency and spend the "majority" (51% or more time) in SB County, you are fine. They recognize and understand there are lots of "part-time" vacationers that have property within the county (who are NOT eligible) as well as people who split time, for work or other reasons, between 2 or more counties or even multiple states.

What you don't want to do is falsify or fabricate any information that you list on your application. Doing so is a misdemeanor P.C. 26180 (a).

I have found the folks that answer the phones to be extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. If you have not already done so, I would strongly suggest calling and having a conversation with them rather than debating your issues here and getting sucked into the CG black hole of defending yourself.

If you genuinely believe you meet their criteria, complete the application. Once you get to your interview, you will know within in minutes if you do in fact meet their eligibility criteria as the investigator reviews your paperwork and proof of residency. If they do turn you away, you will only have spent your time. You technically have not "submitted" an application nor were you "denied" either for the purposes of answering "Section 2, Question 1" (for future submissions) about previous applications and denials P.C. 26175 (d), assuming you did not sign your application and they did not retain the signed copy. The "electronic" submission of your information does not seem to meet the legal definition under P.C. 26175 (d) of a submitted application.

Can anyone please assist me in regarding this question I have M&P 40c and I like to carry conversion barrel 9mm on my pistol, already receive my CCW permit but I would like to add it on my CCW permit, instead of purchasing another (pistol) instead of me just carry the conversion 9mm barrel for my M&P 40c

                    Thank you happy holiday.

Thanks msternin. Your post was helpful and was along the lines of what I was expecting. I can't honestly say I reside in SB county 51% of the time. At best it's 30%. I love it up there, but there is simply no work. I'll still give the SBSD a call though.
                      Thanks again for the info.

I'm not turning on you. I'm telling you the County Resident think is designed to exclude people, like you, who are only here part time from county shopping . I'm not judging you in any way and I certainly did not make the rule. I just answered your question.

This is a great question. One I have heard asked before but do not know the answer for.

I suggest you call them directly and ask.

I promise you are not the first one to ask. When you get their response, come back here and let the rest of us know for the next person who asks.

I was told at my last renewal class that conversion barrels are a no-go. That the gun must be in the caliber as listed on the license.

But, again, it is best to call and ask.

I had my interview on 9/15, just got a call from Det. Logan today saying I passed the background check. For those who also scheduled a range date of Jan. 2nd, see you there!

I wouldn't. It is a bad idea to modify carry firearms (except for sights and grip, such as stippling). I would assume this is definitely a no-go.
