ah yes a classic jeff cooper blowhard moment.

I agree 100% with the article you linked.

"I asked Ed Head, operations manager at Gunsite, for his opinion. He said, 'Since the first rule of gunfighting is to have a gun, any gun is better than none at all. The little .22 LR may actually be better than some larger calibers, depending upon the ammunition selected. For example, I would think a high-velocity .22 cartridge like the Stinger might be a better choice than a .25 ACP loaded with FMJ rounds.'"

"Nobody wants to get shot with any gun. It's been my experience people just don't stand there and let you shoot them. The most common stop is psychological. Most people stop fighting quickly after having been shot. Although we tend to worry endlessly about knockdown power and about what bullet and load is best, fact is, people just don't like getting shot, and unless facing the rare superhuman, even a .22 can get the job done."

I took a look at the new application site. The way it's put together it only seems that it would work on Internet Explorer. I guess that Apple users and others (Linux, etc). need not apply.

Their IT really needs to get it together.

The application site seems to work fine on Firefox and Windows.

I just completed mine and the appointment choice page is simply a list of available appointments - you click the one you want. I selected the first available, which was April 28 at 10:00 am. I've yet to receive an acknowledgement via email, though. If I don't receive that soon, I'll call and verify.

Has anyone been delayed over 90 days in SBC? I applied on 9/14 and on 12/2 they state they were still reviewing my application. As of today I have not heard anything from them. FWIW I have no felonies, no drug charges, no arrest, ect.

I know they have been bogged down with everything that happen recently but 91 days is a bit much.

I interviewed on 9/9 and haven't heard yet either. The wait has exercised my patience but I keep telling myself that the wait will be over soon.

I was told they had everything including doj approval and the application was waiting on signatures. Sara just said to sit tight.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

I was home when the detective came by which was around 11/1. Work verification was completed the first week. Hell, the detective called my landlord and work the same day I applied. He was upset that my past address were LA county and was hell bent on trying to get me arrested for falsifying my home address. I have been in SBC since May and only work in LA.

                          ^^^^ This.

Check back in the thread for various timelines.
Things slow down around the holidays due to time off.

                          I applied in mid-May, interviewed August 13th.
No clue on the employment check, but residence check was October 21.
I called on day 92 (Nov 13) and was told that I had cleared but my application was being circulated for the needed signatures.

December 1, Detective Logan called to confirm I cleared and schedule range.

Interviews in September? I would not get antsy until the first week of January.

Mine took 120 days. I called at 92 days only to find out that they'd never received my employment verification. I feel like if I hadn't called to check on it, it would have just sat in limbo. I guess it irks me because I called at 80 days to find out the status and I was told to sit tight and check back in 2 weeks. That would have been an optimal time to tell me they hadn't received my work verification yet. Still, a range date is better late than never.

I wonder what they do in the case of self employed or non employed/retired applicants? Contact former employers perhaps?
