Now waiting for final notice via email with instructions for pick up. I know the pick up days "tues and thurs". I'm guessing it's just to let me know when it's ready to pick up and to bring my photo ID I used in the application. Am I right?
    Dude, what happened to this?

        My timeline, thus far:

        Initial application: Dec 16th

Initial interview: Feb 4th (Originally Apr 17, found earlier opening)

Notice to proceed to livescan: Feb 14th

        Livescan done: Feb 15th

        Training competed: Mar 17th

Certificates and current proof of residency submitted: Mar 17th

No further movement. I'm wondering if by "first come first served" basis, they are going off of original application date, verses final documents being submitted...

You will get an email when it is ready to be picked up. If they are also doing things like a couple of years ago, you might even get an automated phone call informing you of it.

Just to wrap up my timeline, I got my approval email, text and phone call yesterday, April 9th at a little after noon. Made payment immediately.

Got email to pick up about 3 hours later. Made it there just before 4:00pm and picked it up.

Question... My 20 year old son is now thinking about wanting to get his CCW. He lives in Sacramento County also. No background issues, not even a traffic ticket.

I know he can't purchase a handgun until he's 21, but he can possess one if one is gifted to him by me.

Does anyone know if Sheriff Jones has a minimum age requirement for CCW's? I mean, worse case it's only $25 to apply and find out, but curious if anyone knows first hand.

If we can get the price down to $20, will you do it?

Lol. Not really an issue with the cost, I just don't want him to apply when there's no chance, get denied, and then have to answer "yes" to the question of have you ever applied and been denied on the application, either here in Sacramento or perhaps another jurisdiction down the road.

                          Dude....the initial app is $20, not $25.

If he's turned down, future apps say he was turned down for being under 21....if he lives long enough, he can fix that.

I've not seen anything from Sac Sheriff on age requirement.

BTW...depending on B-day and process time, he might make the "21" cut by the date of issuance.

Sorry. It's been so long since I initially applied, I forgot! Lol. Old age I guess.

                            Thanks!

He really should have three: one primary; one secondary; one backup, if primary is in the shop.

This could cost you WAY more than $20.

(Your son can thank me later.).
