that is why i love my out of state ones because they are less than 30 days and that is only if they went to lunch or are goofing off. Considering all the costs for a sacramento CCW and the delays you might consider moving to another county. and then they have the highest recall rate in the state and refuse to say why. Good job sheriff jones

Well, the link doesn’t describe the process, it just throws you onto the permitium application page. It was basically like applying for a renewal, minus the proof of residence. What a pain. Name address, physical description, firearm(s) info, citation(s), accident(s), arrest(s) info, ugh! But it was only $14 with the $4 processing fee.

Big Red, you could have it a LOT worse.

All things considered, Im grateful for what I have and thankful for Jones.

BTW, does repetition make you feel better?

                Finally, a correct assessment.

Do you work for the Sheriff, or are you somehow involved with their process ? I'm wondering why they're short on answers (Permitium emails don't help applicants much).

Nope. Neither a current, nor former, employee. I just dislike broad, unfounded statements attacking a system or individual. It’s especially important to challenge these types of assertions now, as the Sheriff, who is pro-CCW and made good on his election promises to increase issue, is being challenged by anti-CCW groups.

I have had a Sac CCW for a few years, beginning when appointments were scarce and the system was ramping up. Delays were extensive. I was also caught in the bureaucratic transition from the old system, testing my patience with staff and the system (Staff cancelled a long-time scheduled renewal appointment when I showed up...no prior notification...and refused to honor the appointment with me at the desk at the appointed time. I was un-amused, but they had guns.)

Permitium will only answer technical system questions. They don’t make policy nor do they control review and approval workflow or decisions.

I have, in the past, had positive results emailing ccw@sacsheriff.com and the lead analyst, Amber Wong at awong@sacsheriff.com. Amber has historically been very helpful in smoothing the process. I’ve even been able to get through on the phone at 916.874.8450, but when all else failed, I faxed the question to 916.874.5858. I received a response by email.

100% agree with this post. I too went through the process years ago when it was difficult to say the least. Fact is, Sheriff Jones has kept his word and continues to issue despite vicious attacks from a certain vindictive and petty CA Assemblyman who's name is not worthy of mentioning among others.

One only needs to review some of the other counties threads to see Sacramento County while not perfect, is head and shoulders above the majority of other CA Counties. Especially considering it is "ground zero" for the largest collection of anti 2A zealots under the dome.

It is critical that Sheriff Jones wins his re-election bid. If you need something other than 2A and CCW to discuss with others (friends, coworkers, family), use the recent arrest of the "East Area Rapist" as a reason to re-elect Sheriff Jones.
