It's more difficult than most in California (it is the BSIS COF), but it isn't difficult to complete. You did really well. Congrats!

Is Sac sheriff still issuing updated permits with new address after submitting modification? I moved in Nov 2021 and received a new permit with updated address listed. I moved back to my original home 2 weeks ago and submitted another modification for address change. Haven't heard back yet for a pick up of updated permit. Someone at "The Gun Range" said they don't issue anymore for that and as long as I submitted the address change modification within 10 days of moving. Strange I received a new permit before and now I dont.

I suspect they don't want to waste time and effort to reissue, but I'll be there tomorrow and ask.

Time to renew, so I decided to see how close I could come to new issuance matching the expiration date of 22 Feb 2023, and to see how long it takes to process final submission.

-22 Feb 2023: Permit Expiration Date:
-29 Jan: Loaded application; DL and Proofs of Residency into Permitium. DID NOT include firearms designations.
-30 Jan: Received Permitium Notice: Cannot Proceed with Application until range quals are submitted.
-31 Jan: Completed range qualifications. Did not submit them to Permitium.
-17 Feb, 14:40: Submitted Range paperwork into Permitium and paid the fee.
-20 Feb, 0710: Received email and automated phone call telling me the permit is available for pickup on 21 Feb.

So, I dropped the last paperwork on a Friday afternoon before a 3-day weekend (Monday holiday) and approval was put in place on Monday morning.

Pickup is tomorrow, 21 Feb; I missed the date by 1 day.

If you have everything input and correct except the training certs, they can turn the license in 48 hours on a weekend.

            YMMV.

So I did the address change on Feb 7 and then submitted my renewal Feb 20th. I was hoping to do them both together but my 10 days from moving would've lapsed. Wondering how this will play out? I'm guessing the renewed permit will have the new address. Thanks for inquiring about this. I appreciate it!

Wow. That was fast. I submitted the renewal application yesterday and it was approved and ready for pick up today.

So real talk... the folded permit that's been laminated is 3" x 4" and my front pocket wallet is 2" x 3 1/2".

How are the majority of people carrying their CCW permit cards?

So I checked order tracker. The renewal is processed and I picked it up already. Then I checked the address modification order. It’s still in process. Like they said, renewals takes precedence over modifications. Should’ve done the renewal back when I moved couple weeks back. Would’ve saved the address change fee.

You should contact the office and let them know they can kill the renewal.

There have been a lot of answers to this in the past....a couple of years ago, I collected a bunch at this post. If nothing else, this will prove you are not crazy or alone in this first-world problem.

For years, I've trimmed the laminate to within 1/16 inch of the license and then been able to work it into a credit card slot (take everything else out of the wallet, bend the license to get the corners in, then slide it in. Push a credit card in behind it to set all of the corners in the slot. Refill the wallet).

You will only need the license if you get stopped/screw up or if you're buying a handgun (serves as 2d proof of residence and waives the FSC and handling demo).

Don't bother putting it into your wallet right now because you're going to take it out to look at it. (I suggest making a copy. ).

Thanks for the advice! He cancelled the address modification because the renewal has the new address. Also refunded me the $18.00 for the address change modification!

Thanks for the feedback! I'll see what I can do to trim it down a bit. Might even consider removing the lamination, trimming, then laminating again.

Sacramento County renewal application turnaround time.

Thanks to those who replied to my question regarding Sacramento County renewal turn around time.

                                For those interested.

Submitted renewal application on Friday February 17th about 10 am.
Received my approval email on Monday, February 20th at about 10 am.

So my turnaround time was about 24 hours not counting the weekend.
