      New member CCW timeline

Hey all, new member here after lurking for a while. I wanted to contribute where I can after learning so many valuable things from everyone here! I've been on the fence about it for a while as I was contemplating a move to the Eureka region but, decided to stay around here for a bit more.
Thanks to all that take the time to give your valuable input!

2/15/23- Interview with Sherriff & waiting for the yes/no

Thank you for the assurance. I turned 40 last year, and this is my first CCW permit. I am about 6 months into shooting sports and it's been great so far.

The advice and tips you all share are welcomed.

Remember that Sacramento became de facto "shall issue" as a condition of settling Sykes v. McGuiness. Cooper is NO FRIEND of the 2A or CCW but the Courts would look very unfavorably if he deviated from the status quo as the policy is a result of a binding agreement.

My advice is to seek much more training before, during and after you are issued. Carrying a firearm is serious business and the more well trained CCW holders with a great mindset on defensive firearm use, de-escalation, fighting and force on force is a great thing.
My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.

Would like to update this as things have progressed quite quickly...

1/13/23 Live Scan Completed (Appointment needed with Sheriff)

                              1/16/23 CCW 8hr class

                              1/18/23 CCW 8hr Training/Range/Qualification

1/19/23 E-mail with APPROVAL of CCW Permit. Final Payment submitted. Now awaiting e-mail back on when to pick up.

Approximately 91 days from submitting application to getting APPROVAL of CCW Permit.

As stated above, please be adequately prepared for the qualification for SAC county as the other 2 guys I took the class with did not pass. DOJ instructor will make you shoot (with a timer) from 15 yards, 10 yards, 7 yards (right hand only then left hand only, then dropping to one knee), 5 yards, and 3 yards in addition to reloads in between. Not only do you have to be accurate but also efficient. Dry firing at least 15 minutes daily and hitting the range a few times before the class should suffice

Hope this helps anyone new to the CCW process.

                              Cheers

Congrats! Questions for you though... Where did you take your CCW class and did they have you shoot from a holster? Did they also demand you take any prerequisite classes before your CCW class (Basic pistol etc.)?
I'm looking into classes at The Gun Range in N Highlands but keep getting mixed msg's from the staff...
