Well I called today, which is 2 weeks exactly from when I submitted the app. The number you gave is the same as on the permitium website, so I called and asked about if there was maybe a problem with permitium or with something else and the person on the phone flat told me they were backed up. He looked up my application and said he could see it and everything looks ok but they just haven't had a chance to look at it.

So I am stuck at the moment with no ETA. As other have stated when you do the renewal process and get approved they don't start you new permit from the same date you had before, it starts from the day you pick up your new permit. So in my case I have lost a little over 2 months from the time I originally got my first permit. I was attempting to get my date closer to mid June again, like it was in the beginning.

My fault for not filing it earlier, but again this thread has usually been perfect to see what the current time frame is.

I'm in the same boat as you. Today is two weeks from when I submitted my renewal package and there has been no movement. Hopefully they get to ours soon.

Thanks for the info, at least we know for sure it is some kind of delay for all of us at the moment. I will keep the thread updated as I've done in the past. Hopefully it won't be too long before they get back to normal time.

Well just got my email/text/phone call from Permitium saying my permit was approved. So whatever delay they are having seems to be taking about an extra week at the moment.

While the time it took to get approved wasn't bad at all, the part that worried me was the fact the application sat in "assigning to processor" so long. As opposed to the multiple previous times I had done my application, it was a few days at most before someone was assigned.

Glad it wasn't a super long wait, but for those who are waiting til close to your expiration to gain some time back on there renewal like I was, you may want to apply a bit earlier for now.

Mine was also approved just a few minutes ago, so it looks like they're working through them sequentially, given that we both submitted our packets on the same day. Just over two weeks to be approved - not the fastest mine has been, but also not the slowest.

I guess I’m waiting for mine too, been stuck in “assigning” for a week now, and my ccw expires this sat. I’m filing early next time instead of the last min like my instructor tells us to. All my previous renewals, I would submit on Sunday, get approved the next day to pick up on tues/Thursday.

just got this from Sheriff Cooper, I am good with it, if you are out doing stupid crap, then don't expect to keep your CCW,pretty basic.

The only issue I have is, what is considered contact with a police officer?

                    .

LOL pretty basic IMO, it's says

"Permit holders must report to the Sacramento Sheriff?s Office within 10 days of any arrest of the permit holder, or any contact by law enforcement or incident involving any firearm and provide full details of the incident. Please submit an email to ccw@sacsheriff.com and provide full details of the incident or contact, including the date/time of occurrence, if you disclosed your status as a CCW permit holder, if you were armed with your CCW handgun, and whether you pointed it displayed it at anyone, or whether anyone pointed a handgun at you. "

why is that an issue ?

The instructor of my renewal training says that "contact" is basically a "detention" where you are not free to leave. That seems pretty straight forward.

Obviously not legal-speak, but I'd say any contact which *may* result in the form of a written report.
The reason I say so is because this would probably be the primary (only?) way the SSO would find out about any interaction with a person with a SSO-issued CCW permit.

Don?t worry about it. Sac Sheriff doesn?t issue in Idaho.

Just got an email from sac sheriff that I didn’t send in my refresher qualification letter, attached it and sent a few mins after I got the email, and got a call and email 3mins later my ccw is ready for pick up.

To add another data point, my dad just did his renewal as well. His timeline was slightly better than mine. But still remained in "assigning to processor" the whole time til he got the approval today.

6/2/2023 around noon, Started renewal app, submitted all docs and then paid.

The last time I renewed it took about 12 hours for my approval. When I submitted my documents and payment on May 23rd for this renewal, I did not get my approval until June 6th. There are a lot more people applying now so there are going to be delays at some points in time. Just the luck of the draw. The list on the website to start your process 45 days early to avoid any lapse.
