Thanks for the video even though some of the individuals comments were making me sick. "It means more weapons on the street and more crime." How was the question posed to that guy to elicit that response? More crime? Not only does a permit holder have to take a 16 hour class, but they also have to be intereviewed by a detective, fill out a background package, be subjected to a background investigation by the S.O., have DOJ and the FBI run their prints, and fork out roughly $400+ for the permit, not to mention qualifying every year on the weapons listed on the permit. What crime does that goof think a permit holder is going to go commit? wtf?

I have noticed some of you have said when the sheriff received the livescan. How do you get that information?

Congratulations to everyone nearing or at the end of the golden path.

After submitting your application it's reviewed by a committee. If approved (which is highly likely unless you've got some problems in your past), you'll get a letter which directs you to have a LiveScan done at one of three Sheriff offices, along with the LiveScan form. You take that form to the office and pay the $122 and get your prints rolled. In a couple of weeks or so the Sheriff should get your LiveScan results in writing and maybe a week or so after that you'll get a letter indicating final approval. It's all outlined on the CCW page which I think is linked in post #1 of this thread.

Thanks. I've carried for 67 days now and counting.

I would think that they would go to weekly meetings to avoid a big surge in appointment schedulings (though it might not matter much with the backlog).

For those who just received their approval letters, I suggest you schedule your paperwork completion appointment ASAP so that it's not any further down the road than necessary. I suggest three weeks from when you expect to have your LiveScan performed should work. You can always reschedule if you haven't received the final letter from Amber by then.

Had my appointment today and in response to an earlier post by a gentleman asking why the detectives are asking about experience and knowledge. I'm not sure about the reason but I walked in today with a suit and tie and he asked me how long I had been shooting and I told him 40 years and he asked if I had any training as in the military ect. After telling him yes I was in the Army and in Vietnam (it was important for him to know if I saw combat). At that point I pulled out my NRA instructors certification card which shows I'm an instructor in everything the NRA has instructors for and I teach here and in Oregon. He then still asked how often I shoot and do I compete. I told him yes, IDPA and between competition and teaching I go though over 1600 rounds a month. He then asked if I shoot rifle. Now none of this did I expect according to what I had read here and other places.

At the end he stated that the more information there was the faster the committee could go though the applications, and the next meeting would be in a few days. I saw a pile of papers on his desk and I asked him if all those were CCW appts and he stated yes and those were just from today, there was a good 15 to 18 appts there.

As I was waiting in the lobby to be escorted downstairs I commented to another gentleman waiting that at this rate, Sac county will be like Taxes, were even the gardeners carry guns.

I'm writing this so you will go prepared and not caught off guard as I was.

At any rate don’t worry, just have your answers ready.
