Not good enough per the good Deputies unfortunately.

The least time intensive and cheapest option is to go through Ben Clark. Also, the penal code requires uniform training to be approved by each IA. They can't exempt you without approving another instructor/school.

I found FTA to be the more efficient option *(vs. Ben Clark). I think the renewal class was only like $80. The 4-hour class covered the range qual and classroom aspect. Had to shoot more ammo than the Ben Clark range qual, though.

If you go through Ben Clark, the class and range qual are on separate days. I went with FTA, because I didn't want to have to make 2 trips.

Also you can have your whole packet completed for your renewal prior to your renewal interview. Instead of going to BC two different days. I think i'll be going through FTA from now on. RA and instructors were totally professional and respectful.

Well it has been two weeks since I emailed Chief Dave Brown of the Hemet police dept. Not a reply nothing I will give it a two more weeks and see if I get a response to my email. If any other Calguns members want to send a e mail please do so you don't have to live in Hemet to show your support thank you.

Just to confirm, you sent an email to the Chief of Police in the city of Hemet in regards to requesting him to issue CCW for the city?

I'd be interested in seeing a copy of your email if you don't mind PMing me one. I have family that have lived in San Jacinto for over 25 years and owned a business in Hemet for the past 8yrs. Public safety has been a big issue locally. With more inner city and urban people relocating within the city I have witnessed intimidation tactics and physical abuse to get business owners and the general public scared of the newer groups moving in.
And homeless/drug abuse/alcohol have always been an issue at the local parks.

Well that's a terrible idea if we want to actually work with the Chief. Nothing like harassment to get someone to do you a favor.

                  Edit for update....

I just received an email back from Murrieta Police Chief Hadden. Here is a just a portion of what he had to say.

"Knowing that the wait time for an interview with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department is nearly 18 months now, I have one of my lieutenants looking into what it would entail for our department to start issuing CCW permits. I need to determine all of the impacts on our department. I will most likely present our findings at a City Council Meeting in late July or early August"

To me, that is GREAT news.

Yes I did send Chief Brown a Email about issuing CCW's.

Sorry my Email is between the Chief and I.

Yes Public Safety is a very big issue in the city of Hemet and the valley as well it keeps getting worst. My family has been in hemet for a while since 1948 and I was born here in 57. We have seen a nice quite town turn into what we have today.

I am not going to email him everyday.

I have some other plans in the works.

Hemet used to be quiet, semi-rural, a bit remote, but it was clean and nice.

Now it is being eaten alive by the criminal, drug, gang, and section 8 housing cancer. That place is a mess. So sad.

                            Folks,

I'm hoping someone can help here... Can you qualify/add off roster firearms to your CCW? Has anyone done it it or do they need to be rostered models?

                            Thanks

You can use off roster firearms on your CCW. But if they were SSE you need to make sure that they are registered under the correct caliber.

Yes, you can qualify with an Off Roster weapon for your Initial Permit and a Renewal. However, unless someone has heard different, adds and changes to permits are not being processed due to the current backlog of new applications.
