Many thanks to those here who assisted, publicly and privately. I also share the earlier sentiments about the CCW staff, great to work with and very helpful throughout.

If you haven't already done so, GET IN LINE. Then, go bang on your county supervisor to help the sheriff staff the unit properly so we're not having to wait so long.

    Be safe.

Fully aware of the backlog as a result of San Bernardino terror attack. Actually my appointment dates is not 2017 it is 2018.

What is even more frustrating is I had a break in, and it has my wife pretty upset. I think pressure needs to be applied to the county board of supervisors.

Those who've been fortunate to get their credentials should count their blessings.

You don't need a ccw to carry when you are at home to protect yourself from break ins. Just sayin until your interview comes.

The backlog wasn't helped by the terror attack, that's for sure. But the problem was started long before then. In 2014 people really began applying but expected to be denied. By 2015 a lot of people were being approved and so by summer 2015 the back log was already out a year. The terror attack just increased it further.

Yup been carrying at home for decades.

To many platitudes thrown around. How many that have CCW's will put pressure on a CBOS to hire or fix the problem.

I have never lived reliant on PD's or SD's for my protection. I've always stay within the law. But typical of governmental agencies to force a citizens hand.

But I've already contacted my the CBOS district rep to put pressure on effecting a change.

I thought the whole idea of calguns was to communicate issues and work together and find solutions to 2A issues.

You are correct. And the CBOS is the correct area to apply the pressure. I heard that a new budget had been passed, does anyone know the details on that? The sheriff has said that if he gets the budget approved to fund more deputies he'll expand the CCW unit.

If a new budget has been passed it should be public record so I'll be looking a bit later

My appointment is April 2017 and would like to know what Riverside is looking for when it comes to a good cause ?
I live in Riverside but work in San Bernardino.
San Bernardino is listed as one of the top 10 unsafe city's in California.
The first shot out was in front of the office that I work in and the IRC shooting was less than a mile form my work.

                        Training before appointment?
Last Friday, I went out to the Raahauge's Gun Show. First time at that event. Nice event!

Anyway, FTA had a setup there. When I told one of the FTA guys that my Riverside CCW appointment was only about two months away, he told me that I should get into training NOW. Also, when I went to the LGS, he said the same. However, when I made my CCW appointment with Dep. Aguilar at the CCW unit (back in November), he told me to wait to train at Ben Clark since they don't have a file on me yet, and my training paperwork might get lost. I have also heard others say that the training is only good for x months and if you take it too early, it will expire before you need it for the process.

Did anyone that received their CCW recently do the training BEFORE the initial interview? Should I do the training before? I would like to do my training at Ben Clark for multiple reasons.

                        Thank you!

I did everything except the Livescan(paperwork is issued at interview) prior to my interview. I went to FTA for training the month before my interview. FTA may be advising to get into class asap simply because their classes maybe sold out(pure speculation on my part). If the deputy says BC may lose your paperwork, that may be advice that needs to be followed. Just sayin.....

However, when I went through the process in 2015 it was about 5 months from initial phone call to issue. Hopefully, one of the CG'ers on here that recently obtained their permit can share their experience.

FYI all future CCW courses at BCTC will be classroom and range qualification on the same day. Per the instructors those of us in last weeks class are the last to do the 2-day split.
