I was denied....I asked for an appeal and have been waiting since October for a return call from the LT (and now there is a new Lt). I'll update post when I get off of work as I don't have time to get into it. Let's just say I've emailed once a month with "I'll look into it responses" from my Deputy. (Yes I know they are busy and I'm obviously not a priority).

I would be interested in hearing what their reason was for the denial or if they gave one.

Hey guys I have my range qual on wensday and from what I've heard the hardest part is shooting from the 15yd line how did you guys feel on that ? and how is the whole qualification scored like overall if your shooting for 3 guns is it scored for all three or each individual.

Hey all.. N00b to the forum here. I had a quick question about CCW in RivCo. I haven't gone through all 50 pages of this post but the many I did, didn't cover it.

So I called today to setup my CCW interview. I had 2 phone numbers and ended up leaving messages on both numbers. I questions is: Should I just wait it out and hope for a call back or would it be better to drive down there in person and attempt to make the appointment? Or maybe try and reach them via email? The reason I ask is because probably a month ago (or so) I called them and left a message inquiring about their CCW class. I've yet to receive a call back. I realize they are extremely busy, just wondering what's the best way to get the interview appointment.

            Thanks in advance all!

Just calling the phone numbers is the best way to go. They will eventually call you back and give you your appointment date to turn in your application and have your interview. In the scheme of things there's no rush. Your interview is a loooooong ways away.

That's sucks. I'm in the process now. Yezzo called me saying I was missing something in my application. I quickly sent it so he can get my paperwork pushed for approval. I hope that means it's a yes, but I have a feeling it can go either way. Crossing fingers.

Let's say if that you hit your target 50% of the time at 15yds. As long as you don't bomb the other two targets at close range, you should be fine. It's an overall count at all distances. You can probably still hit ZERO at 15yds. But if you're perfect at the other two. You'll be fine.

Thanks for the reply! I'll hold tight a couple weeks and see if they call me back this time.

If and when I do hear from them and get my interview date, how long are we currently talking? I saw a post saying roughly 2 years? I sure hope not! Hell, Hillary could have all our guns by then... (Joking but not really)

They were booking Jan or Feb 2018 last I heard.

I picked up my CCW permit earlier this month. Total process took a little over a year. I called initially Jan 2015, had my appointment around March or April 2015, Deputy called me in December 2015 to tell me it was approved. Took the class and Qualified with my pistols mid January 2016. I shot six rounds at each distance (15,10,7 yards) on a full size target at the Ben Clark location.

8 months AFTER the initial appointment. Wow, that's a lot longer than what I heard. Was there some reason for such a long time between the appointment and approval?

Sounds like he took the preapproval route. Got the call in December 2015 and was advised approved. Then he qualified in Jan 2016 and picked up his ccw recently.

The preapproval route does extend the entire process a bit.
