Update: I called the CCW unit today (first time since interview), and they said the results came in today. They said I should hear from them in a week or two with final instructions, but they had everything they needed and just needed to hand off for final approval.

Today marks exactly 20 weeks from LiveScan.

I would appreciate some help with documenting my GC when renewal comes around. It's about 6 months out, but I want to have everything in order and didn't have to document for my initial GC. Any insight from renewal vets would be appreciated, or if I need to rework a new GC maybe some help with that would be great, thank you. Just message back and I'll PM you.

With a handful of carry permits in western states you can carry across most of the country - some 40 states give or take. My son in law is up on this if you want to inquire. I think OR requires you to show up, but easy to get otherwise. AZ is open or CCW, no permit. NV isn't hard to get and gives you a few other states. WA is also on their own but recognized by a bunch of other states. Go here and inquire:

BTW, some of them are cheap and easy to get, for example WA doesn't require any training. The advantage is reciprocity into other states. But you gotta find out which ones are reciprocal. Like although AZ doesn't require a permit, if you have one it is recognized in other states. I think UT is also fairly easy to get.
            thank you very much Browneye

              OC CCW Renewals

I sent in application for my renewal 3 months ago. It expires next week and I still have not heard from them. I emailed them and only got the response that it was on my investigators desk. I haven't done the 4 hr renewal class as I am still waiting to see if they will approve it. Anyone else having the same experience? Recommendations?
              Thanks in advance

If it was me I would have already done the renewal class and sent them the certificate. I would rather risk spending some money than having to delay the process once it was renewed. Training is always good anyway. If they already had your training certificate and renewed you, boom, done.

This goes in the renewal thread. But yeah, they are taking 4 to 5 months to get them through.

If you have a quick train option you can do that on conditional approval. An online class can be done anytime, range time on a weekend. So that would only delay you a week tops. But yeah, many going ahead and doing the re-train certification and submitting it so that once approved they'll schedule your pickup date.

Figure it could be as much as two more months.

I'm going to put my renewal in 6 months early. Dang.

On a first renewal, many are waiting to see if the transition from "self defense" to GC is going to result in an approval. Renewals after that should be less stressful.

Late to the party, but this forum has helped with the learning curve. Applied for a CCW w/ OCSD. I'll update my timeline as things progress, but feeling good as I had a local trainer review my GC and indicated it looked very good.

                            So far:
                            - 8/22/16: Request interview
                            - 8/23/16: OCSD confirms interview [2/28/17]

So I have the app completed, including GC statement. Going to do the LiveScan now and try to get ahead of things (relatively!).

I also recently took the training and sent in apps for UT and AZ.

                            - 8/23/16: OCSD confirms interview for 2/28/17 <sigh, but could be worse!>
