Interview is finally coming next week. I did my training and livescan early, Livescan on 5/27 and training on 5/28-29. I'm hoping it doesnt take longer than 6 months, otherwise I guess im paying for training again. lol.

Does anyone know if they always do the residency check next day? I'm trying to figure out if I should take the next day off of work to be there. Since I will be leaving town for the weekend.

I wouldn't necessarily count on next day. Not sure I'd bother taking the day off. They'll query the neighbors.

Submitted my renewal package by email at 8:21 am this morning.
Received email receipt confirmation at 11:26 am

Quick response -- OCSD is hard at work.

                Renew CCW in Orange County

I will need to renew my CCW in Orange County soon. I 1st got it when personal defense was cause. I have heard the sheriff will still issue, but the reason needs to be a little more specific. I want to find if anyone knows any fairly general reasons the sheriff has been accepting.

                Thanks

At the range this morning an I asked an acquaintance how his CCW application was going. I was surprised when he showed me his CCW denial letter. It said he didn't meet the good moral character requirement. He is somewhere around my age I think (65) and says his only problem was when he was 18 and had discussed it during the interview. It did not seem to me that would be a disqualifier. It was basically a traffic ticket. I recommended getting a live scan for himself so he can see what they are seeing. There could be an error involved perhaps. Is there any way to get a copy of the livescan he already payed for that went to OCSD? The letter said there was no appeal process, I read it myself.

Plenty of people here have admitted to their youthful indescretions and yet received LTC's.

I suspect that there may be more to the story.

Also some people inadvertently make disqualifying admissions during their interviews as well.

A copy of his livescan may give insight into the real story.

Although in the absence of an appeals process, the point is largely mute...

                        Bigbob,

Could be something said. I did have a curve ball question thrown at me that I really had to pause for a considerate answer.

Additionally, your acquaintance may not have provided a 100% truthful response to one or more questions on the application. That'd hurt the morale character aspect.

Yes, my life was a train wreck up until 19 years ago. I told the truth and didn't make any excuses for what I had done in the past. Fortunately I was able to document the positive things I have done in the last 19 years and the investigator was open minded enough to look at this. It took almost a year but I got my CCW.

Hopefully this guy will get a look at his livescan and see what there is that didn't match up with what he told them in the interview. He seems like a straight arrow. I guess it could even be possible that there is an error of some type. If I was in his shoes I would definitely want to see the livescan.

Well it's been a month now since my application was submitted for final approval and it's still sitting there waiting. I emailed them today and got a short "still waiting" answer.

I'm trying my hardest. At this rate I'll probably get my az ccw first.
