Yeah I called on 3/20 and asked and they said that day everything was sent to the LT for final approval. So its been a little over a month. I was debating to email them today but don't want to bother them anymore over it haha. I emailed them like 2 weeks ago about it and got the same answer.Comment

I emailed again last week with an unassuming "need anything else from me?"Yeah I called on 3/20 and asked and they said that day everything was sent to the LT for final approval. So its been a little over a month. I was debating to email them today but don't want to bother them anymore over it haha. I emailed them like 2 weeks ago about it and got the same answer.
Go back: "not at this time."The more I know the less I don't know.Comment

What I don't understand is why it takes so long for the final approval. I would imagine it's just double checking all the paper work and saying yay or nay.Comment

There's either a hickup in the giddyup or LT has been on vacation or some other activity to delay. I wonder how many others have been approved during the same period. <shrug>
Seems like there are lots of pickups on the renewal thread...maybe they are doing those first, then the new apps. I dunno.1911 ShooterComment

Let's just say it take an average of 10 minutes per file to make a decision and the LT dedicates 2 hours a day to that alone. That's 12 a day. If he does that only 2 days out of the week that's 24. I don't think that's unreasonable, yet somehow it's taking forever. For me this is worse than the livescan wait.Comment

Congrats! That is a long wait. Mine was about 3 months back a year ago.Originally posted by DeltieGOT MY CCW 2 DAYS AGO!
Originally, applied in August 2014
Got my appointment for Jan 2015.
Went in, did my paperwork. Stated and show proof I own an Airsoft Business in Chino, CA. [But live in Yorba Linda/OC County]
Finished there, did my CCW class a couple months later, ~$200 from Rahaugees/Surfire Institute in Corona, CA... Got my approval email in September 2015 [almost 9 months after my initial appointment] and told me they just need my livescan.
Started my livescan that week [wanted to make sure I was pre-approved before shelling out ~$140ish on a livescan]
Got my final appointment on 5/24/16 and paid the final $102 fee, and got my CCW card that day.
Took about 21 Months start to finish from sending in my initial application. Granted I delayed my livescan due to ensuring I made the cut. Which likely resulted in not getting my final appointment sooner. But god that was a long wait, almost 2 years.
Went in, signed a few papers. Ensured the serials/paper work information was correct and bam in and out in about 25 minutes.
Sandra herself, was the one doing my final appointment. She seemed very nice and answered a lot of my questions informatively.
She said that due to the peruta cases, people still had to have a "good cause." Though based on what she said, this term is pretty loose. Granted saying its just for "self defense", or "constitutional right" reason is not enough. But saying you work late, have a night shift and or do any lock ups during late hours can easily justify you having a CCW. It doesn't have to be anything too outrageous like muling jewelries or huge sums of money. Or was part of a jury of a huge murderer or anything. Hell now you can make an excuse to get your boss to give you graveyard shifts or something to justify this!
In total [depending on where you do your livescan or classes] it ran me about $440. I'd imagine you can go low as 350-400 if you go to the right places.
On cost, yes it can add up. Some are buying a firearm or two to add to their carry permit as well, so easily a grand.
OTOH you can get live scan for $25 (plus DOJ and FBI fees - non-negotiable) and training for $150 plus a discount for a referral. So yeah, a few bucks can be saved for shopping it around a bit.1911 ShooterComment

Yeah, this is def. worse for me as well. The live scan you figure 3 months. No point of even thinking about it. But with this part of it, I keep looking at my email every few hours thinking, is it there yet??? lolLet's just say it take an average of 10 minutes per file to make a decision and the LT dedicates 2 hours a day to that alone. It will come eventually, hang in there...
I finally stopped thinking about and when the email came, my email was down.
The final decision took so long they were literally apologetic about it.
That said, even though the actual pick date was shortly after a major surgery and during a prolonged recovery, I had my brother drive me there to pick it up as soon as it was ready.
It will come eventually, hang in there...Real Californian...Comment

Probably Not Good . . .
Um, just received this from OCSD as to it my question to them of it taking so long for final approval:
No, it does not take this long. However, we have new administration and everything is being delayed. Someone will get back to you soon.
Thank you for your patience. The more I know the less I don't know.Comment
