Main thing, the CCW course is the first step? I am not sure what you mean by the first step or the CCW course. If you mean the first step to getting a CCW I would say completing the live scan since it can take a while to get the results.

BTW, are there any reasons one would fail the background check part besides convictions? Yes. OCSD could deny you for anything that causes it to have concerns with your character.

I just finished the CCW training at Artemis and had a great experience. They are very professional and helpful.

As for how difficult it is to get a CCW permit in OC, I had my interview withing one business day and the deputy was very helpful in advising how to edit my Reasonable Cause statement so it would be accepted. I had multiple deputies state they wish there were more CCW holders.

You don't need to include it in your application package. The results of your livescan will be electronically sent to OCSD. Just download and print out the form and take it to the livescan operator!

Thank you. I am going to do livescan during weekdays next week, taking my ccw course Saturday, then will apply and report back the time table.

Just be sure you use the Live Scan form that you download from the OCSD CCW site. That way the correct checks will be made and the results will be reported directly to the correct OCSD unit.

My mistake for trying to type and talk on my iPhone at the same time.

OCSD requested a training certificate last Wednesday. Completed my training through Insight on Sunday and received my certificate later in the evening. What is the likelihood that OCSD will deny me at this point for whatever reason they can find fit.

If they requested your training certificate then you are approved. Patience grasshopper!
