Just saw this email from my instructor. They may be closing down temporarily.
We've just received a notification from the OCSD CCW Unit indicating that ,effective immediately ,they will be closed until further notice.
I will send an update e-mail as soon as the CCW Unit indicates that they are back open for business.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me directly!

Just got this email back from the ccw unit.
"Thank you for your email. Yes, the phone interview will substitute the in person interview. Please be ready to pick up a phone call from our office at your scheduled interview time. As of right now, permits are still being issued until further notice."Comment

My opinion on the CA Government:
Originally posted by Grover NorquistI don't want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub.Comment

I just got a text notification to check an email from the CCW unit:
The email:
"As part of the department’s ongoing COVID-19 prevention efforts, the Orange County Sheriff's Department, CCW Licensing Unit has temporarily suspended public access, which includes scheduled appointments and Initial, Renewal and Amendment license issuances.
You will be contacted via email once the suspension is lifted.
If you should have any questions or concerns, please email ccwpermits@ocsd.org.
Please note, our staff may have limited access during this closure.
Thank you for your understanding,
CCW Licensing Unit
If it is requested that you upload documents, you may do so by using the Order Tracker: https://ocsd.permitium.com/order_tracker
Sincerely,
CCW Licensing Unit

UPDATE FROM OCSD (posted on their website today):
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has compelled the CCW unit to temporarily change how we conduct business. Our mission is to provide high-quality service while taking proactive measures to maintain the mutual safety of our CCW staff and CCW applicants. In compliance with Local, State, and Federal Guidelines, we have suspended in-person transactions and public access to the Brad Gates Building (320 N. Flower, Santa Ana).
Current CCW license holders can renew their CCW license through the website. Upon administrative approval, and after payment is received, the CCW license will be mailed to the licensee via US Postal Service.
We will continue to accept and process new applications for CCW licenses submitted online. However, new license issuance will be on hold until our CCW office reopens for public access as first-time license issuance requires in-person transactions.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you should have questions or concerns, please email us at ccwpermits@ocsd.org.Comment

Probably the same way they do renewals. Upload your qualification document online and they will mail you the CCW."Life Is Hard. It's Harder When You're Stupid"-John Wayne!
