    Submitted my application on Sunday.

Kicking myself. Total rush job and I didn't do my due diligence by reading up on the threads in these forums.

--My Good Cause Statement...garbage judging by the standards set forth here.
--My Listed Permit Pistols...3 out of the 4 I listed are probably not even going to pass scrutiny (due to modifications)

Can I do a "do over"?

They'll work with you on the good cause statement. If there's a spot where perhaps giving more information might help your case, they'll point it out to you. I can't share details on a public forum that might identify me to anyone in real life, but let me just say... If they accepted my good cause statement, then I don't think anyone has anything to worry about. As long as you came up with something you can back up with documentation/evidence.

Are you able to put your pistols back to their stock configuration, or did you make permanent changes to them? You might look into making your guns stock again before you do your training course with them. It's there that your guns will be inspected for modifications. The Sheriffs themselves don't actually inspect your guns during the application/interview.

DO NOT ASK FOR ADVICE. Its a super simple thing for OCSD to formulate policy. I didnt have to ask some rando at OnTarget if i can make internal modifications, change my sights, etc.

That stuff is all set forth, in writing, in the regs and conditions of issuance we get with our permits.

Again, i own grandfathered mags. They are legal to own. They are legal to use. I certainly didn't raise it, but i did use them to qualify.

OSCD has a mechanism to implement and disseminate changes to policy.

It doesnt involve whispering in some OnTarget counter guys ear.

DO NOT ASK ABOUT THIS. if it is going to happen that we cant carry, then let it happen. Dont force it by asking some midlevel guy to make a yes or no decision.

That's a relief to hear. Thanks.

Couple questions if you don't mind...

            1. "As long as you came up with someone you can back up with documentation/evidence."--What did you mean by this? Is there a character reference I needed to submit (but didn't)? (*Or did you mean "something" and not "someone", perhaps?)

2a. Two of the guns were barely modified (just grip panels). They willing to accept that, you think?

2b. The other two have upgraded flat trigger systems installed. Can I remove those two at any point prior to the interview?

            Thanks.

                1. Yeah, that was a typo on my part. I meant something. There must be some aspect of your life that exposes you to a greater level of personal risk... find a way to document it. Receipts. Permits. Photographs. News articles. Make a legitimate claim and then document it thoroughly.

2a-b. The official written policy allows no modifications. The policy states that "possessing a weapon altered from its originally approved design..." is a violation of your responsibilities as a CCW holder. OCSD has informally stated that they allow night sights and weaponlights, but otherwise the written policy is what it is.

You can always change around the guns that are on your application/permit. If you want the guns with the souped-up triggers taken off the application, I would raise that concern with the deputy when you have your interview. The interview will consist of you and him/her going over your entire application packet and double-checking everything, so there will be plenty of opportunity to bring up that you want those two guns taken off the application. No biggie. Even after a permit is issued, adding/removing guns is pretty easy, all things considered.

Personally, I carry my weapons "as-issued" stock, except for Trijicon HD night sights. They were inspected and approved in this way by the OCSD-approved instructor.

Hi folks, any idea what the current timeline from application to receiving your permit application time is for new OC CCW's?
Assuming of course applicant does everything promptly.
Asking for some friends. Thanks folks.

                      Update:

Submitted my CCW renewal application online on 3/15/19.

Received email with request for more info on 4/18/19. Sent requested info on 4/20/19.

Received automated phone message, text, and email of renewal approval on 5/1/19. Pick up anytime without appointment after 5/27/19. Current license expires 6/2/19.

Super easy renewal process, and much faster than 2 years ago.

I was just a couple days behind you.
Never heard from them until it was approved. Took just over 7 weeks for mine.

I opted to do my training first, and now that that's over, I'm getting ready to put in my application. Would any OC CCW-holders here be willing to review/proofread my good-cause statement?

I'm sure some will be happy to help, but did you run it by your CCW class instructor?
