Just got an email from OCSD that I'm Conditionally Approved pending training certificate.
Looks like Livescan took exactly a month to come thru.

To be honest, I didn't expect things to go this quickly. I agree with everyone else, OCSD staff has been very professional and responsive throughout the entire process.

I don't know how or if they did the residency check. I was on vacation for a couple weeks after initial interview and never saw them coming to the house. Must have spoken to my neighbors.

          Hello all....

I'm looking at the application requirements, and see that anything I include on my application may be made available to the public.

20+ years ago, I pled no contest to a misdemeanor (not on the ccw disqualification list) which was expunged as soon as was legally possible. I have had only positive contact with LEOs since - not even a traffic ticket. This isn't something I talk about with friends or family today, so a public disclosure now or in the future would be incredibly harmful to me.

As I understand it, the expungment means the plea/conviction was invalidated and I'm free and clear to answer "no" to the conviction question. However, I've read many posts here that advocate full disclosure, and I don't disagree.

I am curious if there's a way I can do that without the public disclosure risk, or what my other options are.

Privacy laws preclude disclosure of private information and information used in an investigation. Your background stuff won't get released.

Even our good friends at the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence agree. See last entry at: http://smartgunlaws.org/concealed-we...in-california/

Thanks everyone for your help and guidance. It’s been about a 6 month process but I pick up my license this week!

Question for those in the know here. I just got my final approval email but the date and time they chose is exactly the same date and time I'm having a crew come in and tent the house for termites. I emailed them back asking for an appointment the next week. Do they answer that email address or is it just one of those that they send stuff out on and they don't reply to return emails? Or, should I contact my investigator for a different appointment? Thanks.

                    BTW - My timeline...
                    Feb 16 - request appointment
Feb 17 - given appointment date in October
April 19 - Bumped up to July 5 for initial appointment
April 21 (give or take a day) - live scan, figured I'd do it then since it sounded like LS was taking a while to go through.
June 25 - Training - figured I'd do it before my appointment more for my convience (that's when I had the time to get it in) then anything else.
July 5 - Initial Interview - My investigator says my live scan came in the day after I did it. (I've been in the LS system for other things so maybe that's why it was so quick?) Gave investigator my training certificate.
July 6 - Home check - I wasn't home so the Deputy checked with a neighbor
Aug 2 - Investgator email me for more documentation for my GC statement - Info emailed back - She say that should do it
Aug 29 - final approval email - Can't make the appointment (see above post) so waiting to hear about a reschedule.

Thanks for the help from the folks here. It was great info.

OK, disregard that post about the email. They answered and I've been rescheduled.

                      Thanks all.

FYI - It looks like OCSD is moving quickly!

I emailed them late last night and just received my initial appointment for 11/16/17 - barely 6 weeks out.

Yes - new seargent, more staff - a team for new apps and a team for renewals - all caught up. DOJ must be as well since live scans are coming back within a couple of weeks. At one point some were taking 4 to 5 months.
