For a renewal permit, there's no additional fee when you go pick up your permit. The fee you pay at pick-up is for your initial permit only. I picked up my renewal permit almost a month ago.

I missed a call from "Unknown" number caller and she left a message. Someone "LT Salcedo" from Los Angeles County Sheriff Department asking me to call her back at 323-4221360. I tried to call back but it goes thru a voice message but different person. Not sure if it's scam or legit LASD. I am waiting for the call to pick up after submitting the training documents a week ago. Really not sure if its legit LASD calling me to schedule a pick up date or just one of the scam.

Thank you. That I was thinking too about the call but the call back number (3234221360) she left goes to a voice message that doesn't even says if it is LASD. Anyway, I hope she calls back.

SB2 went into effect on 01/24. He submitted his training documents on 12/23. My instructor is allowing us to do a second 8 hour class.

Youre lucky. Some of these other trainers not allowing people to take an additional 8 hours to supplement the first 8. This means another class, now 16 hours, anywhere between $250 and $400.

It was actually the LASD Investigator who suggested that to my friend. So my friend asked and the trainer had us pay the difference.

I turned my app in in person at the Santa Clarita Sheriffs station 10/7/2022 and was told it was entered into the system 1/2023 and I haven?t received a call. Has anyone heard what month/year apps they are processing? I emailed them on Friday of last week and just got a generic ?your application will be processed in the order it was received? response. 17 months from turn in date seems to be abnormally long, but maybe I?m being impatient.

They are most likely still working on applications that were put into the system November of 2022... so keep on waiting because it will be awhile.

I submitted my application back in July 2022 and didn?t see movement until December 2023. If your timeline is similar to mine in terms of time for the department to get through their process, you might see movement in the next few months.
