Sit tight, LASD is still calling folks that submitted in May, and the very first week of June. I submitted the week you did and probably won't hear anything until January, maybe February. Molasses runs quicker in Canada this time of year.

I hand-delivered my completed CCW application packet in person at the sheriffs station and paid them with a United States post office money order and received a receipt from The officer at the desk that afternoon.

Email them They either lost your application or haven't processed it yet. ccw_unit@lasd.org

I sent them a money order too. Should've sent a regular check instead so I would have known if they cashed it or not.

I mailed my application in today. I was discussing with a friend, and he was under the assumption that certain parts of the application had to be signed by a witness/police officer who would also provide a badge number on my application. Is that correct? I simply filled out the whole application, signed pages 3,8,11, and mailed it, but didn’t get any signatures or badge numbers from an officer etc before mailing it. Is there any validity to what my friend said?

The form is for use state wide, with the understanding it may be handled differently in different counties. LASD wants applicants to do exactly what you did.

Can you imagine the delays and bother involved in getting every application co-signed by a deputy before submission?

The first section of the LASD CCW website states under Application Process:



The applicant will thoroughly Complete Sections 1-8,INCLUDING SECTION 7 and Sign Pages 3, 8, and 11, of the Department of Justice Standard Application. The completed application can be submitted to your local Sheriff Station or mailed to:

NOTE: The DOJ Application instructs the applicant to only complete Section 7, when directed to do so. The CCW Unit requires Section 7 to be complete in order to contact you.
