LASD accepted your 2023 training? They made me take it again in 2024, even though my 2023 was less than a year old.

CCW training is good for 12 months. When I had my interview, my training certificate was less than 2 months old.

I heard about SB2 before the training. So I took the 16-hour one in Oct. 2023.

How were you able to take a 16 hour course? From what I was told no approved training vendors even had their curriculum approved at that time.

I was thinking the same thing. My instructor wasn't SB2 certified until sometime in February. It wasn't something that was automatic.

I figured this information, if inaccurate, wouldn't steer people the wrong way. That instructor if he/she informed you that 16 hours was required last year, lied and took your money.

I dropped off my application at the same, Santa Clarita sheriffs station June 24, 2022. I got my email to live scan 12/7/2023, finished my training 3/3/24? now I?m waiting on my call for pickup. It?s been a long process, sounds like you?re right on track!

I turned my app in in person at the Santa Clarita Sheriffs station 10/7/2022 and was told it was entered into the system 1/2023 and I haven?t received a call. Has anyone heard what month/year apps they are processing? I emailed them on Friday of last week and just got a generic ?your application will be processed in the order it was received? response. 17 months from turn in date seems to be abnormally long, but maybe I?m being impatient.

My timeline for LASD

Just wanted to provide my timeline for those that are still patiently waiting.

1. Mailed application to LASD 6/29/22
2. Application processed 10/17/22
3. Live Scan initiated 10/30/23
4. Phone interview LASD 11/7/23
5. Document receipt confirmation 11/8/23
6. CCW class - 11/21/23 zoom 12/23/23 Range
7. Live Scan completed - Subm class completion 12/24/23
8. Picked up CCW 3/14/24

Total time about 21 months. A coworker who submitted his application by mail about a week after mine seems to be about 2 months behind schedule in processing time. I think they got flooded with a applications around that time frame.

Lucky. Still waiting on mine, and I submitted my documents 3 months ago. Hopefully the deputy that has my application gets back soon. Was told they are out on leave. You would think they would reassign applications if that's the case. Oh well.

It?s been 636 days since I dropped off my application at the sheriffs dept.
1 year, 8 months and 26 days.
20 months and 26 days.
90 weeks and 6 days.
15,264 hours? but I?m not really keeping track.

I?m waiting for my call to pickup, likely in two more months.
