I just did my live scan yesterday 01/10/2024 so I was told I have to wait for that to clear before I get the proceed to training and was told by the deputy that right now it's like 3-4 months backed up.

        Process update: (pick up date)
I received a call from "Private Number" and scheduled for CCW pick up for next Wednesday. I should have picked it up the 1st week of January, but unfortunately, I had a missed call from them on 12/20/23, and they left a message that they would call me back to schedule the pickup.

Some info for those scheduled for pickup and something I observed.

There's no check-in, you just sit down and wait for your appointment time. At your exact scheduled time the deputy will call your name to step into the office to get your license.

I'm assuming if you're not there during your scheduled time they will immediately move on to the next person especially since while I was there, there were another 4 people in the seating area waiting for their CCW. I really don't think they're going to wait around for you and push everyone back.

So don't just be there on time but 10 minutes early. I'm sure they'll take any excuse to not give you a license so don't give them any.

Thank you for sharing that. I would imagine being on time is important but your advice might help reinforce that to those of us that struggle with punctuality.

I havent heard or read that specifically but at your point in the process you might want to get one done. Although, its up to you. I have seen a few people talk about something like this, and it may be a new thing since rolling out the new online permit system.

I know a few people have posted here that deputies have advised that the Live Scan doesnt expire.
I am in an LASD contracted city, I will call the CCW unit and ask if the live scan expires and to clarify if one should get it out of the way before the interview.

Isn't the 16 hour training required for new applicants?

Yes, mine was also paper app when they were still asking for just cause. I already lost hope back then until I got a call for interview back in Aug and ball started rolling again.
Well, I finally got some good news over the weekend and among all days last Saturday and get this, they texted me first to call number for ccw pickup. I called right away and got all info needed. What a long time to wait almost two years from app.
Any how all I can say is be patient, good luck to all good citizens and keep on training. Requirement is only 8 hours during that time but I will still suggest to do at least 16 hours and some sort of advance street defense training and adding first aid. Do it at least every six months and range time at least once a month. It can only benefit all of us.
