For anyone wondering about whether they should get their live scan done before they get an interview I was told by the officer in the CCW unit who answers calls to just get it done and out of the way and it does not expire.

I received my training email. It says that I have 60 days to complete the training.

I applied in July 2022, had a phone interview in November 2023.

Did they tell you needed 16 hours of training or are you grandfathered in at the 8 hours ?

I called the CCW Unit this week and was informed that you have to take 16 hours of training no matter when you applied for your CCW.

The email does not say

The link they provided in the email to the LASD ccw page seems to contradict itself. On one hand it says

New Applicants must complete a training course no less than 16 hours.

Renewal applicants must complete a training course no less than 8 hours.

But it also says

For applications submitted via Permitium as of January 1, 2024, Senate Bill 2 guidelines will apply. For more information, please visit: Bill Text ? SB-2 Firearms. (ca.gov)

I don't know what ?Permitium? is. Never heard of it. But I certainly applied before January 1st of this year.

Permitium is the online service company lasd is now using for applications and renewals. Should eventually get the wait times lowered but for now it just takes out the sheriff's from processing the application and fees. It's all done through permitium

Small update, the CCW unit confirmed receipt (via email form) of my training documents I submitted last week.

I turned in my application to the Santa Clarita Sheriff?s Office on May 8, 2023. I haven?t heard a thing since. Finally, after repeated calls (13), to the CCW Unit ((213) 229-3110) I was able to connect this morning. The lady told me that they?re backed up to November 2022. 😱 I thanked her and it?s relieving to know I?m in ?the system?. Patience is a virtue.

November of 22 is conservative they are actually backed up to July and August 2022 applicants.

I applied June 16, 2022. I pick up my CCW Feb. 6. Did mine with LASD. I will post what my timeline looks like later today. It's been a long time coming.

Im wondering if the lady mean they are backed up for applicants put into the system of November of 2022 which technically is applications mailed/sent during July/August of 2022.

Reading previous comments people who has been entered into the system early of November 2022 are starting to receive some kind of phone calls for verification of residency and so on.
