    DO NOT BRING YOUR FIREARMS.
The applicant is required to bring a cashier's check or money order in the amount of $173 made payable to Los Angeles County Sheriff?s Department (LASD)."

Now, the call I got was clear about it being $120, so I assume this is being cut in somewhere and we'll have to just go by whatever our scheduler tells us, but I thought it worth mentioning here.
My assumption is if they have already booked your app in and you are in the system the previous price is grandfathered in. I pick up this Friday and only got a $120 cashier's check as instructed as well

Ahhh man I was hoping to have my picture taken for the i.d. card with the gun pointed at the camera. Lol.

I really was shocked when I read that as I can't imagine someone in this community that is careful, and worked so hard and patiently waited for this, and has firearms would even consider that... But hey it is California and we do have the sharpest tools in the shed (shed being the u.s. and yeah I'm being sarcastic)

Interview was done over the phone. I recommend anyone who is renewing to send in your application 6 months in advance.

Yes it was a phone interview for my initial application. Also, i only know of only two other people who got initial phone interviews as well. When i told my CCW instructor in the class that i had a phone interview he said he's never heard of that. When the Deputy called me, she asked if i had about 15 minutes of my time and if i minded if she conducted the interview right now over the phone. I said no problem and she just reviewed my application and reason for requesting the permit along with a couple of additional questions that weren't on the application. After that she told me to get my Livescan right away.

Standardizing the telephone interview would save applicants a lot of time, but comes at the expense of the Deputy not getting to perform the "eyeball test".

On the other hand, if you pass the background check, do Bruen and the 2A make the interview superfluous?

Have you followed up at all? You're 10 months in and no interview? That's insane!

I have NEVER heard of a phone interview for an initial one. I feel like that would streamline the process instead of doing in person interviews

I agree... insane... but it looks like the average time between submission and call to interview is about 9.5 months. Hopefully I'm within striking distance. That's based on mail date... If I go by check cashed date I'm only at 8 months since.

Check cashed date is a better indicator for expecting a call. When I spoke with the CCW unit they were specific that applications arent even put into their system until the check is cashed. Which means up until that point its as if you havent even applied.

I received the pick-up call today at 1035 from a private number. The Deputy told me to bring my D/L and $120.00 cert. check or money order. Picking up next Thursday 04/27. I pay the old amount, which makes me a little happy. All the best to everyone still waiting, what might seem an eternity.
