Just an update on my experience applying through LAPD. Interviewed this week, was told to expect an approval letter in about a month once everything is cleared by the higher-ups. Did livescan already back when I first got the call in October. My investigator was fine with me doing the training before approval, but of course they can't explicitly instruct me to do it until then.

I do not know about LAPD but LASD allows you to put your wife's handgun in your CCW. I use my wife's handgun in one of my concealed carry weapon lists.

According to the LASD website, they do NOT allow a firearm on your CCW that isnt in your name. Below are the requirements for LASD approved CCW firearms.

Handgun Requirements

Any handgun that the applicant intends to carry and have listed on their CCW license shall meet the bellow criteria prior to being used during their required firearms training. Failure to follow the criteria or failure to adhere to CA state and federal regulations will result in the immediate suspension and/or revocation of the license.

The handgun must be registered/DROS to the applicant.
The handgun must be concealable upon the person or reasonably sized bag or purse.
The handgun, magazines, and ammunition must be in compliance with applicable CA state and federal laws.
“AR Pistols” and similar handguns are not permitted.

LASD acknowledged my training on November 9th. I was hoping for THE CALL sometime this week. Should I be worried about the new sheriff taking over tomorrow? Are they still issuing?

At the interview. I called a few days after the Bruen decision to be added to the wait-list. Got the call in October to schedule an interview.

I heard this too but they were saying that they only hold the application of those whose training was received after November 1st all others that submitted their training and receive the Training Receive email before November 1st they are still processing.

I received the training certificate received confirmation right on 11/1/22 I sent a follow up through the portal last night... so hopefully I'll get some sort of response this week... really hoping for that pick up call this week

See below I picked up last week. I was right around 5 weeks some other were a touch longer. I would not start worrying until I was at least 8 weeks out. But I understand your concern.

Anyone else have a CCW from the first wave of issuance that is coming up for renewal? Mine expires in three months so I just sent in the renewal application.

Same app as when I applied with the exception that the "good cause" section was struck.

Curious what the process for the next 90 days will be?

Just finished my livescan. Spent $119. LAPD has a list of approved training vendors on their website. I'm thinking of just doing it before the interview just to give it to speed up the process.

I just finished my interview with the detective with the LAPD CCW unit. They were really nice. It was at LAPD academy near dodger stadium. They asked for the check and proof of residency and went through my application. I showed them my livescan and had done my ccw training already. He took the ccw training paperwork, but said he would have to see if they're still valid after my application is approved or not. So, I recommend waiting on training unless you want to possibly retake the ccw training.

They had standard questions asked by the city attorney...how many drinks do you drink per week? Have you sold/used drugs? Been arrested? Involved in a lawsuit? Basic stuff.

I asked how long the process takes and I guess they have three layers of leadership it has to go through, but he told me I'd get a letter within 90 days.
