For anyone that recently got the first initial call, when did you apply for CCW? Not sure if I should expect my call soon since I submitted my app on early May.

My sister called the ccw unit to inquire about the status of her application. We applied at the same time and I picked up mine over a month ago. She received her training email over 5 weeks ago. The deputy told her all applications are now on hold until the new sheriff takes office and they have 12,000 applications backlogged. She apologized for the delay and said there was nothing they could do. For those waiting for that final call, it might be awhile.

I heard this too but they were saying that they only hold the application of those whose training was received after November 1st all others that submitted their training and receive the Training Receive email before November 1st they are still processing.

Hmm. Her training docs were received Oct 25th, but they said she was submitted for final review on Nov 5th. Will update if she hears anything in next couple weeks!

I will have her try that. I was hoping it was misinformation. I guess we will see if others get the call this week or next to pick up. Not sure why the sheriff would have told her that, unless it just started today? She was told they had to stop issuing until new letter head with the new sheriff's name was created.

I just called and confirmed - they are waiting for some type of paperwork that should arrive within the next week.

Use the address that your current Utility Bill with your name on it address too. LASD always asks for the current Utility Bill to back up your residency address, so if your Utility Bill is on your new address then you do have to deal with the DMV to get a new ID

Just an update on my experience applying through LAPD. Interviewed this week, was told to expect an approval letter in about a month once everything is cleared by the higher-ups. Did livescan already back when I first got the call in October. My investigator was fine with me doing the training before approval, but of course they can't explicitly instruct me to do it until then.

For some of you old timers in here, just happy to report that I got my "proceed to training". A VERY long journey but after wandering the path many times, finally nearing the end. At this point, for most of you, it's just a waiting game. Imagine the days of the good cause nonsense! GL and gg.

When did you reapply again? And congrats mang!

Pretty sure that they wont accept a driving license with 'federal limit apply' on it and the address needs to be your current address,

I do not know about LAPD but LASD allows you to put your wife's handgun in your CCW. I use my wife's handgun in one of my concealed carry weapon lists.

I take that as you cannot use someone else's firearm in your CCW application in LAPD jurisdiction.
