Done boys. Interview lasted like 10 minutes. Asked me for my paperwork he requested. Handed it to him. He asked if I made copies, which I did. He made the comment, "Finally, someone follows directions."

He asked me the list of questions asked to everyone. Then asked me to slightly revise my GC and email it to him. Told me I should be approved and instructed me to get my live scan and training.

Going to get live scan done right now and doing my training tomorrow.

Side note... there were about 6 other schlubs waiting for their interview when I left.

Let them use what they can against you. They're going to use everything they can against you. But you should be confident when you draw your weapon that it's life and death, there shouldn't be an after thought.


I have faith in our American justice system, although not perfect, by far th best in the world. If I did something good by drawing my weapon, I have faith, with the right counsel, I will not be screwed.

Fair enough, but remember, once you are in the hands of that judge and jury, to some extent you are no longer in control of your destiny. If you do everything right then a conviction is very unlikely. But sometimes little gray areas in the evidence can really screw you. Even if that doesn't get you convicted, it may be enough to get a big civil suit judgment against you in a jurisdiction where jurors are more likely to be bleeding heart antigunners.

Plus, there is the financial side. You can be acquitted and still be saddled with huge legal fees. Make sure you have some form of conceal carry "insurance" (some of it is more akin to prepaid legal than insurance, but whatever, still better than nothing).

All that said, in a true self-defense shooting, you are shooting to protect the life of yourself or another innocent person from death or serious bodily injury. In that sense, the financial/legal side does not matter in that moment, because the alternative is a possibility of death. If you have time to pause to think about what comes after, you probably don't need to shoot lol.

Any recommended ccw classes near Santa Clarita?

Well, I recommend the Burbank Firing line CCW class. The total charge for the class is $190 for 3 guns certification. It is an 8-hour course. According to many of my students, they learned a lot of legal side issues involving shooting, brandishing, and the ADW aspect of CCW. But don't expect them to teach you how to shoot. That's why many of my students came to me to learn how to shoot proficiently for their CCW carry.

You also don't need to make an appointment for this class. Just show up on at Tuesday 12 pm with about 150 rounds of ammo. Or you can try their Saturday class as well. I am not sure what time they start on Saturdays.
