I just got off the phone with the CCW office for LASD. The person on the phone stated that they have paused all issuance of the actual CCW cards because they are waiting for the new cards, letterhead, etc. Once they get these items ordered and in stock they will resume. I asked if there was a timeframe and they said that they don not have one at this time.

Any idea if they're just holding issuing cards but still working through the applications?

This is going to take a while then.. I work for the same LA County... things move really really slow especially when purchasing items. They should have just used up all the existing cards with AV name on them and then move onto the new cards with the RL name.. that would be more efficient smh

If you work for LA County you know they arent about efficiency or practicality

With that being said I would assume policy-wise they arent able to issue anything identifying and bearing the LASD logo without having the proper information on it.

OH believe me... I feel the same way about a lot of the employees there.

Sure, no news; I did write my check for the remaining balance so when they call for me to pick up all I need to do is show up with my final payment. I forgot to say when the LAPD called to say I was approved, when I sent in my qualification scores from my training class, she was looking for a "certificate" from the instructor which I was not given. The LAPD officer gave me her email address to send it in but in my email I gave my instructor's number so she called him and she emailed me and said she'll get it from my instructor (certificate); now I assume my instructor will get to it pretty quick and email her a certificate for my course completion and not just the qualifying shooting scores but I dont want to bother my instructor and pester and ask if he sent it to her already and I dont want to abuse the email address the LAPD gave me --her personal email it seems--and ask if she got the certificate so I just wait. After all these years with no hope for CCW I am just grateful I am approved and will get it..eventually.

So I mailed my application on 3/4/2022. I finally received a call on 12/6/2022 and got my interview scheduled for next week. I was told I would receive an email with instructions prior to the interview. Did you guys received the email right away or right before the interview? Just wondering if I should be calling to follow up, or give it a few more days. Thanks!

LAPD CCW TIMELINE (UNDER BRUEN STANDARD)"

6/23/22: Supreme Court Bruen Decision came out. Called LAPD for appointment. (mailed my LA County Sheriff's app same day; still have not heard a word of acknowledgment from LA Sheriff. Was seeing which agency was faster)

10/5/22: LAPD interview and submitted revised application (no good cause needed. I also had a speeding ticket that I took care of with traffic school in 2020 but the interviewer did not mention it; also I listed my 15 non resident CCWs, the interview saw it but did not say anything either). Interviewer said I was the First to interview under the new standard. Live scan submission same afternoon on way home I found a place that does it.

10/9/22: 8-hr training class completed (technically I should have waited until I was approved but took a risk to get it out of the way and get the CCW faster)

12/6/22: LAPD officer called me and said I was "approved" and now I can take the CCW course. I said I took it already. She said email me the certificate. I did.

Now I wait for LAPD to call me to come in and pick up my CCW and pay the rest of the fee.

I am a less than one week later than your timeline and also have taken my course. Look forward to getting that call soon! Thanks for the update.

If so, did you guys get a call yet for pickup?
They received my training documents on the 25th of October, still havnt heard a from them. Still nothing here.

Check your spam folder. The deputy I spoke to and scheduled my first interview emailed it within 15 minutes of hanging up.

I dont know if LAPD wil email you or call you for an interview appointment (doesnt really matter); what matters is when.....probably be sometime mid to late next year 2023.

Nice work. 6 months is pretty fast compared to LASD. I was just under 12 months and that was fast.

I forgot to add a detail to my original post.
After the interview the interviewer asked if he could take my picture with his phone, just stand up against the building wall (since the interview was held outdoors). I thought to myself the app never said anything about this, but some of my non resident ccws ask for a passport style pic so i guess it's ok, plus they have my driver license with my pic on it already; i couldve gave him a hard time and say the app never asked for it and my DL has it already but since they could have access to my pic anyway, i was compliant and said ok. he said the original officer who called me for an appt wanted pics of all applicants. so i did not want to give him cause to reject or slow down my app so i said "ok"

also be careful what you say, the interviewer writes down EVERYTHING. once i realized that i just gave "yes" or "no" answer as if i was in court. example: did you every get into a physical fight? overthinking this i said as a child, maybe 12, i play wrestled with my brother. the interview wrote this as my response in his sheet!!! i said it was just playing as kids. the interviewer said right, it's just like in high school sports, you may be on wrestling team and you had physical contact with an opponent. i said right good example.

so questions are meant to see if there is a pattern of behavior that would make you a danger, irresponsible, morally unfit etc (i.e. how many drinks do you have in a week, etc) or give them a valid reason to not issue.

By the way anyone here have the lapd use the psychological test or make you take one, i figure that is only if they really think you should not be issued and the psych test is another hoop to jump through.

I dont have any information that says they do attempt to review social media but If you think they dont try to locate these that may be naive. You give them a lot of information about yourself that a seasoned investigator can, most times, use to easily find social media.

if LAPD CCW has the people resources to review social media they might for certain applicants; I did not mean to say they do not. I was just saying the CCW application is not Explicit in saying they require your social media accounts or references (my New Hampshire Non resident CCW asks you to explicitly list three references).

As a city employee I am keenly aware of police's review of social media when needed; for example port of los angeles police hired a outside firm to review social media of police recruits; i know since i reviewed the report asking for approval to hire the firm.
