Section 26150 and 26155 of the CA penal code authorize THE SHERIFF to issue concealed weapon permits, not the AG or the DOJ. Why is the Sheriff taking instructions from the DOJ?Last edited by ngnrnlo; 07-14-2022, 2:47 PM.Comment

All I heard about this in his last live was that they consulted the DOJ about "re-activating" previously denied applications, and DOJ instructed them that those who were denied must reapply. I have not heard anything in the lives about instructing the department that prior applicants must wait a year. If you have the timestamp for when the Sheriff said that, I think it would be helpful to post.02.28.22 - Application mailed

Sorry to be a buzzkill here for everyone who is waiting for issuance (like me) or who is working on applications.
SB 918 will likely be passed in 2-3 weeks when the legislature comes back Aug. 3, signed by Newsom, and effective immediately. It provides for a whole new application form, 3 references, and a 16 hour training class in order to issue a CCW.
I think that means that once it passes, all the existing pending applications will get tossed, and once the all-new application form is issued (however long that takes), we will apply on the new form and get back in line.
Am I not wrong?Comment

SB 913 does not change the CCW application. Just requires more training, more fees and a lot more sensitive places we are restricted from carrying. My bet is this bill will be enjoined until the lawsuits that are sure to come get resolved.Comment

Not true.
SB 918, amended PC 26175, calls for a revised statewide application form. A committee is convened, and if they can't come up with a revised standard application form by 9/1/22, then the AG has sole authority to revise the standard application form. Check it out.
Don't think they can issue new licenses under the old form. For example, the old form does not require you to list 3 references. The new form will. Dozens of changes like that.

Unfortunately you are probably correct. I saw that in NY all applications not acted upon as of some date are frozen til the state comes up with new training standards, etc.
The Democrats will undoubtedly make this go into immediate effect as an "emergency"Last edited by michaelh1951; 07-14-2022, 6:55 PM.Comment

My application was submitted April 12th of this year so obviously I haven't been contacted yet. I need to get livescan done for my COE and I was planning on doing that tomorrow. The question is: Can I save money by knocking out the livescan for my COE and CCW at the same time? Or is it way too early and the point is moot anyway?4/12/22 - Application Submitted
11/3/22 - Livescan Completed
1/6/23 - Call for Interview
1/11/23 - Interview
5/16/23 - Proceed to Training
6/6/23 - Training Docs SubmittedComment
